I am a big fan of military romances, especially when it well written. I spent a lot of time being a military wife, and I’ve heard the lingo and the stories enough to know when things just don’t sound right in a book (nothing drives me more nutty then when an author gets ranks wrong when its so easy to use google). I have to say I really thought the military aspects of this book were done so well. I know very little about how different hardware works, and even less about helicopters, but the author was able to explain things in a way that wasn’t so over technical that I was confused, but informative enough to where I understood; and better than that though all of the detail served the plot, it wasn’t just showing off details just for the sake of doing it. So all of that really made me happy. The thing that stuck out the most to me about this book was Kara. Our heroine is new to the unit, which is a very specialized unit that walks among the elite ranks. She is new, but very capable. She’s also after some time been put into a leadership role, so she’s calling some of the shots during missions, which can be a highly stressful and hard thing to do.
