The Bachelor Auction by Rachel Van Dyken

I really do love Rachel Van Dyken’s writing, plus she’s kind of hilarious on social media, so I’ve been waiting to get my paws on this book. I love the whole idea behind a bachelor auction, plus the guy who orchestrates the whole thing, the grandfather, well he just seemed like such a character, I knew I was going to enjoy reading this book. This book is very much a retelling of a fairytale. I mean our Just Jane is the owner of Cinderella cleaning, and she breaks a shoe pretty early in the book (oh and did I mention that her prince Brock sleeps with the shoe). And no Cinderella is complete without the evil stepsisters, except in Jane’s case, they are her actual sisters. I actually really likes Jane, except for one thing, how she handles her sisters. She lets those horrible women just walk all over her, taking over her entire life, she runs their errands, cooks their food, and basically pays all the bills and bails them out whenever they need it. It sucks. I wanted so much for her to tell them to just get lost. I mean really. They really are the most horrid vapid people. But other than that, Jane was easy to like. She really sees people, and more than that she wants to help them, make them happy. It was hard not to like her. Brock is, well, let’s go with complex.
