It’s not secret that I like books with a military theme, and I really liked this one, because the hero of the book is a wounded vet who is having a hard time readjusting to life he had before his injury. I think the main reason why I liked this book though is because the two characters really evolve and grow throughout the course of the book, and I really love when that happens. So Olivia lives a pampered life in NYC and everyone has these expectations of her and what she is suppose to do with her life. Only she’s made some mistakes in her relationships and she feels like she needs to do some penance. So she decides to volunteer, I think she had her sights set on out the country building schools for orphans but her family had other ideas and found her something a little more local. Olivia thinks she is going to be helping out an elderly war veteran, but she was oh so wrong about the elderly part. Paul is a guy who is seriously hurting over what happened to him in war. He’s young though, and he should be recovering and living his life, but he can’t seem to move past it. He doesn’t even really try to.
