I love mythology, like super love it, it was the first thing that attracted me to history when I was a kid. Even more than I love Greek mythology, I love when authors take on myths and make them their own, so I was pretty excited about this book. I have to admit, that I was expecting a lot more time with the actual Greek gods, versus as much time as we spent with the human components of the book. The book focuses on two different and rather independent worlds: the Gods and then the humans in their game. The two don’t ever interact, which is kind of an interesting thing for a book to do. So first I want to address the whole Gods aspect of the book. Dita (or Aphrodite) is the main God in this book (at least in my opinion), and she’s an interesting character. She has a long standing feud with Apollo, she blinded her son, he killed her lover, she curses his love and then she was incased in a tree. So when it is time for Apollo and Dita to compete, in a game of the Gods, a lot is on the line. Apollo wants to win back his love, and Dita hates to lose.
