I always get wrapped up into whatever book I’m reading, but this is the first book in a while to actually make me tear up, so props to the author for that! My readers know I am on a serious New Adult kick at the moment and this book fit right into it. These two people had some serious things to overcome in their past, a lot of heartache and tragedy, and unfortunately for both of them they were both stuck living in their tragedy rather than moving on from it. So Delaney has it a bit rough at the moment, her mom is on I think her third or fourth suicide attempt, her dad is in person for killing a child while driving drunk, and her brother is one big bottle of angry (no matter how hard he tries to be their for his sister). Delaney really wants to fix things for her family, find a way to move past all the bad and heal, and more than that she also wants to make amends to the family of the boy her father killed, even though she wasn’t even there when it happened and was still a kid. I think she thinks if she can make everyone else better than she can make herself feel better, it’s an awful lot for one person to carry around.
