This was my first BJ Harvey book, and I have to say I enjoyed it. I really love the whole friends with benefits trope in romances, and how it of course always ends up being more than either party bargained for in the end. I know this book has ties to some other books in a series, but you honestly don’t need to have read any of the other books, although judging my the big cast of secondary characters if you have read the books you will probably enjoy seeing some old friends. So our heroine in this book is Abi, and I really like her. She’s a really confident, independent woman. I like how sure she is of herself, and her blunt honesty. I don’t think she could ever be a person who lies a lot, mostly because she almost lacks like a bit of filter, which I kind of loved. I like that she’s not ashamed of some of her life choices, including being a stripper to get out of debt. I also like that she is well educated and works two jobs. Our hero is Cade, who is basically a trust fund baby from very wealthy and let’s call it self-important family. The great thing about Cade is that while he appreciated being able to go to med school without any student loans, he really does not like the whole idea of his wealthy family, and he works hard for what he has.
