Christmas on 4th Street by Susan Mallery

I like Susan Mallery, and this is by far not the first of her Fool’s Gold series I have read (although one of these days I am going to start from the beginning and read all of them, cause I really feel like I am missing out on some great backstory). Even though I have a tendency to read these books out of order, I never feel like I am missing out on something, Mallery does such a great job of pulling you into Fool’s Gold by the time you are done with the book you feel like you know is as well as your own town. I have to say I really liked this book, maybe it was because it’s the town I already know and love, and some of the characters I have totally enjoyed getting to know, plus add in some Christmas time (in the town that can’t say no to any holiday) and you have my idea of a good time. I really liked Noelle, first, I love her name, reminds me of a childhood best friend of mine who has that as her middle name (shout out to my girl, you know who you are!). I think it helps that in this book both of the characters in the book seem to be newcomers to the town, so because of that it you as the reader get to discover the town along with them and start to belong at the same as the characters do, so if you are wary about reading this book because its so far into the series, you shouldn’t let it stop you, it’s a good read. So I really liked Taryn, she’s a strong career woman, surrounded by a bunch of men but yet she’s clearly the one in charge, even though the men in her life all seem to be alpha types. I liked that her partner in her business is her ex-husband and that they have such a great relationship with each other, I would easily say that her friendships with the men she works with are some great ones that really stood out to me. I liked that Tayrn wanted to give back to the community that so willingly accepted her into their small town, she really does have such a kind heart even if she has a tough exterior. Angel is one of those great tortured alpha man types, and I fall for them every […]
