Small town sheriffs, ah, just something about those three words really work for me lately. I liked a good hot cop scenario, and oh boy did this book start off with a hot cop scenario. There were a lot more elements to this book other than the fact that the hero was a cop though, I actually felt like there was a decent of angst for lack of a better word. Both characters really wanted their lives to go a certain way and worked as hard as they could to get there, but the anxiousness of whether or not they would get what they wanted was heavy in the foreground. So Laurie and our hot cop Ethan have a past. Laurie is from the bad side of town with a mom who, well, let’s just say all cops in town know who her mom is. And then we have Ethan who is from the good side of town and comes from money, and works as a sheriff because he wants to do good things for his community. They meet when Laurie is a minor and he is busting her for underage drinking. She makes a pass at him, he tells her come back in 10 years and things might end differently.
