I love me some hot firemen! But what I also love in a romance is characters with big families, and oh did this romance have that in spades. So when we open this book we have Lydia coming back to Boston because her sister is in a tough spot, she and her husband are separating and she works at the family bar, which is also the local firemen’s hangout, and her husband is a fireman, so she wants to avoid that whole scene for a while. So Lydia goes back home, where it’s kind of very clear she really wants in no way to be there. But she’s a good sister so off she goes. So Lydia was a mixed bag for me. I loved how much she is invested in her family, especially when she gives up some of the things she wants in order to be there for her family. But on the other side of things I also think she lets her family kind of say things or do things that she shouldn’t. Like honestly, I think her sister is kind of selfishly putting herself ahead of her sister, in the beginning I didn’t feel that way, but as time passes I almost felt like she was taking advantage of Lydia’s kindness. Also Lydia has a strong personality. Like super strong. There are moments where she comes across as super intense, sometimes to sappy sometimes too harsh, let’s just say she doesn’t really ever phone anything in. […]
