I read the book blurb and a lot about it appealed to me. I love books where people who are friends end up together, and I also really like books where the main characters have to start over. And while our main character, LilyAnn hasn’t really ever left her hometown, but she is recovering from the loss of her fiancee was killed a few years prior to the book, and in a lot of ways her life has just kind of stopped. I went into this book really hoping I would enjoy it. I normally like the small town elements in a small town romance, but in this book is was so over the top that I just did not enjoy it. I’m not sure if that was because of the small town itself or if it is because of the writing style. Ultimately this book was a big flop for me because the writing style was just so hard for me to get into. I felt like the book was writing really simplistically, I thought that there wasn’t enough depth in the characters. Another major problem for me was that the author suffered big time from not showing and instead telling. I felt like I was being talked at or told the story instead of feeling like I was living it with the characters. I know this book might appeal to some reader but for me, I just couldn’t get into the story or the characters.
