Mister O by Lauren Blakely

Can I just say how much I love best friends little sister books, I mean seriously I mean I love them. Also can I just say how much I love reading a book that is from the male POV, I don’t know why, but seriously, Lauren is great at writing male POVs. I will say that I did go back and forth over the title of this book, sometimes I thought it was too over the top, sometimes I thought it was cheeky and fun, but after reading the book it makes all the more sense, and now I love the title. So Harper and Nick are good friends, I would go as far as to call them best friends. But while Nick is self-assured and confident in social situations, Harper is not. She’s kind of disaster with adults, especially of the male persuasion. But while Harper is disastrous with hot guys she is attracted to, she’s also kind of awesomely quirky. She’s funny in sweet and like involuntary way. She’s super authentic, I mean she is who she is and that’s the end of it. Nick on the other hand is smooth and confident and super successful, he’s actually the famous hot guy who created the cartoon series Mister Orgasm, which is kind of awesome. I think what I like about Nick is that he doesn’t really seem to let the fame get to him. He loves what he does, and he works really hard at it, and he knows […]

Wicked Charming by Nazarea Andrews

I love books that kind of retell fairytales, I kind of adore fairytales, so modern interpretations of them make me super happy. When I read the blurb about this one, and how all the male fairytale characters seem to have opened up a BDSM club together, well to say my interest was peeked would be an understatement. So the first book in this series focusing on the Prince Charming character. He’s heir to a huge pharmaceutical empire, but he is totally not down with that becoming his life. He loves being part owner of the Kingdom, although he has been feeling a tad bit restless, but being a corporate guy, so not his thing. Charming is kind of looking to maybe settle down, or rather find himself a submissive who doesn’t bore him before the scene is even over, so when he takes a liking to one of the bartenders at the club, things really start to shift for him. I hate to admit it, but I had a hard time getting into this book, it wasn’t so much the story or the subject matter, but the nicknames. Each guy has a nickname, Charming, Wolf, Beast, etc, and they also have real names too, like Charming is Samul Charming, which wasn’t too hard to catch on to, but some of the others were. And the name are used to often and interchangeable in the beginning that it was a bit much for me. Maybe I’m just terrible at names. Now […]

Being Brooke by Emma Hart

Being Brooke by Emma Hart

Ah friends to lovers! One of my favorites to read. So obviously Emma Hart is one of my favorite authors, and after the ending of her Holly Woods Files series, I needed something to fill the gap, and this was the perfect book. I love Emma’s wit in her books, she always has one of two characters who are just super sassy and make me laugh out loud, they always make the book such a fun time, and this was definitely the case here. Brooke is awesome, there is no way around that. She’s at a point in her life that I can totally relate to, she’s dropped out of college, working at a pretty much dead end job that she’s thrilled with, but without a real direction on where to go from there. The good thing is that she has some seriously awesome friends, Carly and Cain. The problem of course is that Brooke is in love with Cain, pretty much everyone else is aware of this fact, and Cain is dating a woman who seriously dislikes both Brooke and Carly. In a lot of ways Cain is kind of being pulled in two different directions, he wants to be a good boyfriend, but at the same time he has been friends with Carly and Brooke for a really long time, and they are basically like family to him. Of course I was rooting for Cain and Brooke to get together from like page one of the book, especially because […]

Lyric and Lingerie by Tracy Wolff & Katie Graykowski

I’ve been a big fan of Tracy Wolff for quite some time, and every time a book comes by way with her name on it I always make sure to grab it. This is the first book I have read from her that was basically a romantic comedy, I don’t know if that’s because she has a co-author on this one, but either way this book definitely was a bunch of laughs at every turn. So when the book starts we have Lyric trying to catch a flight back home to Texas from Hawaii after finding out that her father had just had a heart attack. Which is basically how she ends up going through the TSA line in anything but travel wear, think corset, mini-dress, and big huge tall shoes. She almost missed her flight, but manages to get on board thanks to a helpful airport employee, only as she leaps onto the plan, her dress basically comes apart and she ends up basically naked. Enter the world’s funniest flight attendant, who promptly makes her a dress out of duct tape. And of course did I mention that the guy she used to be best friends with and in love with is on the flight too. The stuff in the air plane honestly was really funny, and it was nice to get a POV from both characters. Of course it gets even funnier once these two finally make it off the plane. I mean getting Lyric out of the […]

Just One Week by Alice Gaines

A second chance love story, yes please. I love when characters who go back home after a long time away and have to make peace with the things they left behind, and this was definitely one of those books. So we have Michelle coming back home after a really long absence, like 8 years away, and she knew going in that it was going to bring up some painful things from her past. As it turns out she was in love with her brothers best friend when she was young, and when she told him how she felt, well let’s just say that it was ugly. So like days after everything happened, she left and never looked back. The thing about Michelle is that she had this kind of perfect plan set up in her head to be able to avoid the situation, and the man at the center of it, while still being there for the anniversary party that brought her back home. I liked how decisive she was, she wasn’t a character who was wishy washy, once she made up her mind about a plan of action she went for it. I liked that she acknowledge the pain that had from the past, but how she didn’t let it hold her back, she had a plan and she was going to go for it. Alex is the guy in question, and honestly I have mixed feelings about him. I understand what happened in the past, and honestly I […]

Hotshot by Ahren Sanders

I love when romances take place between two people who have known each other since they were kids, or at least on the young side. What can I say I love a good back story. So Bizzy and Shaw have known each other for a very long time, she was best friends with his little brother when they were both going through cancer treatments. And now that they have all grown up, Bizzy is incredibly close to Shaw’s whole family. Bizzy has had feelings for Shaw pretty much since the moment that she saw him. But she has always kept it on the back burner, never really expecting anything to come from it. Until one day things change between the two of them, and it’s more than just being close, it’s shifted to be romantic. It’s actually really kind of cute and fun to see how Bizzy takes this new found shift in their relationship, I mean she doesn’t exactly trust that it’s real, but she isn’t about to turn it down either. Shaw I really loved in the beginning. I loved seeing how protective he could be, and only in the best ways, he wasn’t overbearing or anything like that. He also has really good relationships with his brothers and whole family, which I liked. However, of course it wasn’t going to be smooth sailing for Bizzy and Shaw, I mean what kind of book would that be. See Shaw had a couple of hook ups with this one […]

Un-Shattering Lucy Review

Un-Shattering Lucy Review

I don’t know about you guys, but I always worry about the end of a series, I mean I am always thinking, is it going to end the way I want it to, or will I absolutely hate it. Honestly, when it comes to this book, it was a great ending for the series. I can honestly say I think this book made me feel more than any of the others. I mean this book is without a doubt so heartbreaking in so many places, but it wasn’t just said, there were a lot of moments of hope and love, and it all just kind of worked. I think because life in general is kind of messy, this book did a great job at feeling authentic. So Lucy, oh sweet Lucy. I know she had kind of rough beginning in her life, and she really has come so far, with such a great family and support network, she’s just such a great girl, and all the while she has this one big secret. And of course after prior events in the previous books, when this book starts, dang, my heart just broke for her. I mean she is literally just going through the motions. And its so sad to see how she has completely pulled away from her family, her family that she was once sooooo close to, her isolation is just almost hard to read. And of course she’s heartbroken and miserable, and that’s even harder to read. You […]

Meant to Be Mine by Lisa Marie Perry

I loved the idea of this book, I love the idea of coming home, to the place where you grew up, and everything you left behind. I also love second chance romances, they are without a doubt one of my favorites when it comes to romance books. I also liked that this took place in a small town. So when the book starts we are with our heroine, Sofia, and she is at the funeral of her beloved great-aunt, Luz. You can tell right away that being back in the town that it seems like turned their backs on her, is hard for her. Add in the death of someone she loved very much and its understandable that Sofia is not in the bed place. One thing you do know about her right away is that she had some sort of serious heart issue growing up that eventually led to her getting a transplant after she left town. I can only image what that would be like growing up with something that heavy as a kid. We meet our hero pretty early on in the book as well, Burke, and I’m not really sure if I can explain how he came off. The two of them were best friends when they were kids, she was kind of on the outside because of her health, and he was on the outside because he was into drugs (and it seems he was an indiscriminate drug lover). It’s clear right away these two […]

Lucky Star by Rebecca Caudill

I love movie star romances, I don’t know why but I really do just love them. I liked the concept behind this one, mostly because the movie that our hero is cast in that throws him into the limelight is one of those huge book series’ that is turned into a movie franchise that basically causes everyone to lose their ever lovin’ minds. There is something about the way the media deals with celebrity that is somewhat fascinating to me, so this was a kind of cool exploration of that. So our heroine is Sarah, who I liked a lot actually. She is a super hard worker, she really wants to do the best she can for her job and move ahead, and she’s really smart. She’s just one of those girls who is easy to relate to. There were some aspects to her that I didn’t love, but I think it was situational then a character flaw. When things start getting weird with her and her boyfriend I didn’t feel like she fought for the relationship or really for herself. There were also a couple of moments where people said some things about her that truly did break my heart for her. She is easily the character I enjoyed most in this book. As for our hero, Cameron, well, I didn’t love him. Like at all. Uh, in the beginning I liked the friendship dynamic I suppose, but after Sarah and him hooked up he had the worst reaction […]

Craving Lucy by Terri Anne Browning

Another novella, again not a huge fan of novellas but because these all follow the same cast and lead into a full length book I was more than willing to give these books a shot. So we have moved from friends to lovers, and I’m stoked about it. I really liked both Harris and Lucy in the first novella, so without a doubt I was rooting for them to get their happy ending. In this novella though I wouldn’t necessarily say these two got the happy ending that I wanted so badly for them. You get to see these two really start to make a go of it with their relationship though, how they deal with issues, and really come together as a couple. I have to say I really liked Lucy in this book, she has proven herself to be a pretty strong girl, she takes some bad situations and just powers through. That’s not to say that Lucy doesn’t have some problems though, she has some dark things from her past that follow her around, and let’s just say her coping mechanisms are not exactly healthy. In this book, I felt like you really got more of a sense of the supporting characters. I really liked Lucy’s friend Kin, she’s a pretty cool chick and she has some serious relationship issues of her own to work through. You also get to see a lot more of Lucy’s family, which I can honestly say, I really liked them a […]
