I love all things Emma Hart, and this book is really just a totally fun and enjoyable journey. I felt like this book is really just all about a good time. Normally when I read a book where it involves the best friends little sister it always seems to have more than a little bit of angst or at the very least a couple of tears to be shed, but this book is way more about the laughs and some serious tension. Raven and Parker have basically grown up together and for whatever reason have just never gotten along. There’s not traumatic event in their past that made them hate each other, they just never really meshed. And apparently it has resulted in years and years of snarky comments and constantly being separated by their families. Of course when the book starts these two haven’t seen each other in years, and Raven is in a tough spot with her bar, she wants a chef so her bar isn’t just about drinks but she can’t seem to find anyone qualified enough to make her plan work. Her basic nightmare scenario of having to get the world renowned chef slash personal nemesis Parker to step in and help her out is quickly becoming her reality. These two are super fun to read. They are both really sarcastic and love to push each other’s buttons, and while it starts out as kind of a openly hostile dynamic, the sexual tension starts to amp […]

Mister O by Lauren Blakely

Can I just say how much I love best friends little sister books, I mean seriously I mean I love them. Also can I just say how much I love reading a book that is from the male POV, I don’t know why, but seriously, Lauren is great at writing male POVs. I will say that I did go back and forth over the title of this book, sometimes I thought it was too over the top, sometimes I thought it was cheeky and fun, but after reading the book it makes all the more sense, and now I love the title. So Harper and Nick are good friends, I would go as far as to call them best friends. But while Nick is self-assured and confident in social situations, Harper is not. She’s kind of disaster with adults, especially of the male persuasion. But while Harper is disastrous with hot guys she is attracted to, she’s also kind of awesomely quirky. She’s funny in sweet and like involuntary way. She’s super authentic, I mean she is who she is and that’s the end of it. Nick on the other hand is smooth and confident and super successful, he’s actually the famous hot guy who created the cartoon series Mister Orgasm, which is kind of awesome. I think what I like about Nick is that he doesn’t really seem to let the fame get to him. He loves what he does, and he works really hard at it, and he knows […]

Womanizer by Katy Evans

I loved this cover, so much so I bought the book without reading the blurb, well that and I knew I already liked Katy Evans. I’m really glad I ended up buying this book because I really did enjoy it. Normally I think the whole CEO thing is overplayed, but in this case I think it worked. Part of the reason why it worked was because our heroine, Olivia, has a family connection to our hero, Callan. It wasn’t like she was some doe eyed girl straight off the bus or something, while they may have never met before they still had ties to each other, like Callan is Olivia’s brothers best friend (another of my favorites things in books). Truth be told my least favorite part of the book was the beginning. Olivia came off as super naive in the first few chapters, not exactly unlikable, but a little on my nerves. Plus her older brother is like super over protective, which probably contributed to her naivety. But as soon as she started her job and met the hot guy on the roof she really came out of her shell, and suddenly I liked her a lot more. I know smoking is a terrible habit and all that jazz, but honestly sometimes a hot guy smoking a cigarette in the dark can be super hot, and Callan makes it super hot. I liked that he breaks his own rules. I liked the cute little interactions that Callan and Olivia […]

I had high hopes for this book, largely because I’m kind of a huge fan of the whole best friends little sister thing, and I love when two people have to hide their relationship from others. So when we meet Karlie and Holden things aren’t exactly what I would call romantic. There is an age gap between the two of them and while Karlie definitely has a thing for Holden, he is a bit on the stand offish side with her. Until of course we find out that it is because he is has a thing for her too. Karlie is young, and lives with her older brother, and to say she is babied by her older brother would probably be a huge understatement. In fact I had a big problem with the way that Karlie allows for the people in her life to baby her. She’s might be young, but she’s an adult, so I mean why would she allow her brother to continue treating her like she was a child. I did like that she did go for what she wanted with Holden though, I mean she clearly wanted him, and even though she knew that it was a situation that her brother would not approve of, she went for it anyways. Of course this whole thing doesn’t play out the way either of them expected. I don’t want to ruin it with a spoiler, but let’s just put it this way, something horrible happened, everyone found out […]

A Man of Honor by Miranda Liasson

I love a good second chance romances, especially when the its a best friends little sister situation. This book was a pretty quick read, but it was fun, and I liked how much push and pull there was between the two main characters. You have Cat, who is back living at home after being laid off from her job as a journalist, and honestly it seems like she is really just trying to find her way. A lot of her life seems to be dictated by the wills and wants of her family, and not so much with what she actually wants out of life. But the one thing she knows she really wants, and the one thing she wants to fight for is Preston. Before he deployed the had a moment where she was sure he was finally going to see her as more than just his best friends little sister, and he did. They had a sweet romance, long distance. Until he got hurt. And then he ghosted her basically. Now that he is back, she is determined to find out what the heck happened. I liked Cat, she’s a sweet girl in general, maybe a little to cutesy for me, but I still liked her. I liked that she wasn’t afraid to push when she needed to. Preston, the man in question, is definitely not in tip top shape. He is recovering from a serious injury to his knee, one that is going to require more surgeries […]

So this is the sequel to Tryst, which I really liked, I liked the whole secret romance/brother’s best friend element to it all. So in this book, these two are all out in the open, and now it’s time to see if Blake and Skyler can make it as a couple as both their lives start to take new directions. As noted in the first book Blake books a BIG TIME Hollywood movie that is going to be a lot of attention to him, and well Skyler is getting ready to graduate and possibly go on to medical school. So the bench mark of this book is how separate these two people’s lives have become. Don’t get me wrong there are a lot of interactions between the two of them, but honestly its much more ships passing in the night kind of interactions, and a lot of the interactions are taking place in the bedroom and not with a lot of time to do couple things outside of the bedroom. Blake is traveling a lot more in this book, and working long hours on a movie set. I will say I did like how much he misses his girlfriend. Also how he told just about everyone how much he missed her, it was clear he was in a relationship and loved her very much, so he never sent mixed signals about that to anyone. That’s not say that his co-star was 100% on board with his “off limits” sign. I […]

I don’t know about you guys, but I really do love the whole friends with benefits thing, because well frankly that like never works out, someone always ends up having feelings for the other and it always either implodes or ends up in a relationship. Regardless I love the drama of it all. This book also had the whole older brothers best friend thing going for it too, and I absolutely love that. So when we meet Skyler she is moving into her brothers place because she just going out of a really bad relationship. Like the kind of relationship that results in restraining orders and changing where you live and your phone number. You can tell that Skyler is really still getting over the whole breakup, and she’s also pretty embarrassed about the whole situation, so not a lot of people really know what happened. Skyler works hard in school and is a college athlete, and she’s just in general a pretty chill, cool girl. I liked her for the most part, I wasn’t a huge fan of how wishy washy she was about some things. Like there is a guy in her life who she is friends with, but who she has like a longstanding flirting relationship, and it’s clear he is interested in her, but she never really shuts its down. She knows she doesn’t want that with him, but she just lets it continue and honestly it made me kind of think less of her. She […]

Cherry Popper by Jade Sinner

So this is a quick novella, like super quick. If you are looking for something hot and steamy that goes by quickly, then this is your book, without a doubt. I myself tend to prefer books with a lot of character development, but I decided to give this book a try because I have been trying to walk outside of my comfort zone, and I want to like novellas, plus this had the whole best friends sister thing going for it, so I figured hey why not. Unfortunately because this book is in fact so short, I’m not sure I can say all that much about it because I don’t want to ruin it for you. There is still a little bit of character development, the characters themselves are likable, and if you like an alpha type who has no problem getting down and dirty this is without a doubt something you should pick up. I did like it more then I was thinking I would, and I think I would read more of this author in the future, I’d love to see what she could do with a full length novel.

Getting Wound Up by Jennifer Bernard &

So I have always been a big fan of romances where the heroine is the best friends little sister, I mean I love the dynamics where more is at stake then just one budding relationship. I thought this was an interesting set up for the story, ending up in a hotel room alone is a great way to see if sparks are going to fly. So I felt for Eli right from the beginning because you could just tell he was a good guy. I mean he gave up everything he wanted to go back home after his father had a stroke and now he is helping him run the family hardware store because his father can’t do it himself anymore. I loved the dynamics between Eli and his family, you can really tell that they care about each other. I also really liked how Eli was just a good guy in general, I mean he wants the best for everyone, he wants to be helpful, and what can I say I love an athlete who is a good guy. So Caitlyn is a sweet girl as well, and you can tell right from the beginning that she is super attracted to Eli and that she wants something more from him then just friendship. It’s funny because whenever the subject of her brother comes up, well its when she reveals herself. She doesn’t want to be looked at as her brothers’ little sister, she wants to be looked at by […]

Hostile Takeover by Joey W. Hill

I tend to be very wishy-washy when it comes to BDSM books. It’s not the subject matter that bothers me, it’s the way its written. I hate women who are too stupid too live, those are not characters I can get behind. I hate male characters who are basically written as dominates so they basically be abusive. Also I hate when BDSM is marketed as BDSM and then it’s like vanilla kinky, like seriously, if you aren’t actually going to write it, then don’t call it that. I have been disheartened with a lot of the books I have read, so I went a mission, I was find ones I liked, that were well written, had actual plot lines, and characters that didn’t annoy me to death. After A LOT of searching on board, I came across this authors name, and this book in particular. I kind of LOVE when there is a best friends sister kind of vibe, and this one had it in spades, so that really helped me in taking to the book. So Marcie is a young woman, fresh out of college and working at the company/firm her brother in law is part owner in. There are five other guys who are in the group, and Marcie basically came into their life when her sister took custody of her, so she was a teenager. Ben was kind of her rock, he was kind to her, readily gave her advice, helped her when she needed it, just […]
