The Game of Love by Terry Towers

I got this book/short story as a part of a compilation, and while the synopsis didn’t like jump out at me, I figured I would give it a try. The whole premise has a The Bachelor feel to it, except there is a cash prize at the end of it. I guess why I wanted to give this book a try was because I recently started watching The Bachelor and I was interested in seeing what that would translate to in book format. So Janelle’s motivation for going on the game show is that she wants to be able to afford to pay for her law school. Mason was basically tricked onto the show by his sister who put in the application for him. So neither one is really there to fall in love so to speak. I started getting worried when one of the supporting characters turned out to be a porn star. An overwhelmingly obnoxious porn star to boot. It’s not just that the character was obnoxious, I also thought the writer focusing so much on her, and her portrayal in general was just hard to deal with. This is one of those books that literally has sex for sex’s sake. There’s one scene where the main character is walking through the mansion and walked by two people in the hot tub having what can only be described as sex straight out of a porno, the weird part was how okay with and normal the main character treated the experience.
