Man oh man this book was so close to being a five star review for me, I really liked it, I liked it a lot actually. Truth be told I have no idea why I picked out this book, other than I think I was looking for a firefighter book and the title made me think it would have firemen, but it turns out the book was about cops, lots and lots of cops. And it was a fun ride, not at all what I was expecting but a fun ride. So I really, really, really liked our heroine, Cassie. She’s my kind of chick. She’s an undercover cop, and she is super good at her job. She has a dog that she loves, Raven, who used to be a K-9, but is now just her pet. After completely an assignment she finds out that a hit has been taken out on her, instead of going into protective custody which would mean just being stifled and watched by a bunch of cops, she got out of town. The thing about Cassie is that she went into being a cop because it was kind of the family business but what she really loved was food, and she wanted to be a chef.
