I love me some hot firemen! But what I also love in a romance is characters with big families, and oh did this romance have that in spades. So when we open this book we have Lydia coming back to Boston because her sister is in a tough spot, she and her husband are separating and she works at the family bar, which is also the local firemen’s hangout, and her husband is a fireman, so she wants to avoid that whole scene for a while. So Lydia goes back home, where it’s kind of very clear she really wants in no way to be there. But she’s a good sister so off she goes. So Lydia was a mixed bag for me. I loved how much she is invested in her family, especially when she gives up some of the things she wants in order to be there for her family. But on the other side of things I also think she lets her family kind of say things or do things that she shouldn’t. Like honestly, I think her sister is kind of selfishly putting herself ahead of her sister, in the beginning I didn’t feel that way, but as time passes I almost felt like she was taking advantage of Lydia’s kindness. Also Lydia has a strong personality. Like super strong. There are moments where she comes across as super intense, sometimes to sappy sometimes too harsh, let’s just say she doesn’t really ever phone anything in. […]

This book is so heartbreaking! And also so sweet. It really runs the gambit of emotions, and I really liked it. Christmas has always been one of those magical times for me, and this book really capitalizes on that feeling. Both of the main characters in this book are going through some hard situations, and trying to find their way in life, which makes for some really interesting interpersonal situations. So Christina is a single mom, to a really great seven year old boy, she’s really on her own because he ex ended up being a crook who embezzled/stole cash from just about everyone. Christina really is on her own at this point, and when he husband went to jail she was lucky enough to convince the judge not to auction off her sons things as well as everything else they owned. Now she works at the gas station, but she has a great neighbor, a widow who she has totally bonded with, and they really are their for each other. Will is back in town after losing his wife and unborn baby, and the first thing he finds when he gets home to his mothers is some strange kid being babysat by his mother. Will is having a really hard time moving on from his loss, which I think is totally understandable. But he also can’t help but noticing Christina, he’s definitely attracted to her. And more than that he starts being a really good friend to both Christina […]

I love a book with a good librarian! And Hailey as a librarian is kinda awesome, you can tell she cares about getting people and especially kids to be more involved in reading, which I absolutely love. So that alone had me predisposed to really like Hailey. Hailey and Matt meet when Hailey is out in the wilderness with a friend, and was completely lost. Enter Matt to be her rescuer, only Hailey isn’t so attracted to the “mountain man” whose there to save the day. And then how about it, he shows up living next door, and it turns out that he cleans up rather  nicely too. I actually liked Matt, he comes off a good looking all around good guy. He has some serious relationship baggage in his past, and he really needs to overcome them. Matt is the game warden in town, and to say sometimes he comes home a mess would be an understatement, dealing with the great outdoors can be a really messy job. As it turns out, some women just aren’t cut out for bear poop and skunk spray, and Matt doesn’t believe for one second that Hailey is a girl who can handle his lifestyle. Hailey on the other hand goes out of her way to do the things that Matt likes. On their first date she goes out into the wilderness to watch a Moose, and at one point she even goes ATVing with Matt, but when she asks him to do […]
