Breathe Into Me by Sara Fawkes

I really liked this book, for a number of reasons. First off, I feel like I should warn you, if you are looking for a lighthearted, cute, flirty, romance this probably isn’t the book for you. This book has a lot of serious issues in them, and in my opinion they give the characters a lot more depth to them. To say that Lacey lives a hard home life would be an understatement. After her father died, she finds out he isn’t her biological father, and her mother moves her into their grandmothers trailer where she is abused emotionally and physically. And if that isn’t enough a bad experience in high school basically results in her being emotionally scarred and dropping out of high school. And then there is her boyfriend…Macon… there really are no words for this d-bag. You really need to read him to experience his extreme un-likability. Through everything though Lacey keeps pushing forward, she has plenty of moments of doubt, and sure she thinks about giving up, but she doesn’t. She has a little brother who she loves and cares about, and she knows she has to keep going to do well for both herself and her little brother. And I like that about Lacey, any time a women, or a person for that matter, can go through so many hard times and keep a good head on her shoulders and keep going, moving forward, just shows how strong people can really be.
