Jaded and Tyed by Penelope Ward

Okay normally I’m not someone who likes novellas, in fact I tend to kind of hate them. That being said, Penelope Ward must wield some kind of bizarre magic because she made me really enjoy a novella. I think it helps that I already had a lot of background information on the characters families from the book Neighbor Dearest, but honestly I didn’t think it was possible for me to feel emotionally connected to two characters whose story is so short. So Jade is Chelsea’s sister and Tyler is Damien’s sister, and honestly you won’t love this novella as much as I did unless you read Chelsea and Damien’s story first, so hurry up and buy that and read it. Any who Jade is very relatable. I mean she seems to be making terrible decisions about her love life, she’s dealing with the constant workload of being on broadway (seriously if you don’t know how much work goes into being a Broadway actor go look it up), and of course there is also the fact that her mom is sick and so she feels the constant pull of needing to be in two places, or rather two coasts, at once. I think everyone can identify with Jade. She also handles things really well, even when she is falling apart she still just comes off as one of those women who are always able to hold their head up. I liked that about her. Tyler wants to be an actor, but he […]

Stuck Up Suit by Vi Keeland & Penelope Ward

I don’t know why, but honestly, romances that start where the main characters have contact with each other but yet never really interact in person are like my new favorite thing. I think it has something to do with the character development that is forced to take place without personal interaction, and it also makes it the moment when the two characters start to interact in person all the more exciting and almost suspenseful. I actually really like the characters in this book, both of them, I think because they weren’t like super nice, typical, boring people, they were both very unique and sometimes not necessarily enjoyable to be around, but I think that ended up making them more authentic. Soraya is kind of awesome. I kind of loved her. She’s got tattoos and a personality that is sometimes abrasive, but she doesn’t anything from anyone and I love that about her. I love a girl who can stand on her own and push back when she needs to. She’s also a really person, from her close relationships with her friends, to how she only wants the best for Graham when the two of them finally get together. She tries to make the right decisions for everyone, not just herself, even if that means she has to endure some pain. She’s the kind of girl I would want to be friends with without a doubt. Now as for Graham, he’s kind of a jerk, and I’m a little mortified that […]

Roomhate by Penelope Ward

I love romances where the two main characters hate each other when the book starts, I mean come on, who doesn’t love a bit of drama, or all the angst. Let’s face it, a lot of time, the people who hate each other have some seriously rocking chemistry. Add in the fact that these two are now living together AND that they knew each other when they were kids and had some big time history, well I knew this was exactly the book for me. So when the book starts we have Amelia’s grandmother passing away and leaving her house to her, well not just to her, but also to the boy who lived next door. The boy Amelia happens to have a bit of a history with from back when they were kids. Let’s just say that Amelia kind of knew going into it that this summer with the boy she used to know, was not going to be easy. That being said I don’t think she was remotely prepared for the distain that he was throwing her way, or that fact that he brought his girlfriend with him to live with them. Talk about awkward having to listen to the two of them go at it. Amelia is a really sweet girl, and part of what I really liked about her was how she was basically just really nice throughout the entire book. Even when things with Justin are at an all time bad, she is still nice […]
