I love books that kind of retell fairytales, I kind of adore fairytales, so modern interpretations of them make me super happy. When I read the blurb about this one, and how all the male fairytale characters seem to have opened up a BDSM club together, well to say my interest was peeked would be an understatement. So the first book in this series focusing on the Prince Charming character. He’s heir to a huge pharmaceutical empire, but he is totally not down with that becoming his life. He loves being part owner of the Kingdom, although he has been feeling a tad bit restless, but being a corporate guy, so not his thing. Charming is kind of looking to maybe settle down, or rather find himself a submissive who doesn’t bore him before the scene is even over, so when he takes a liking to one of the bartenders at the club, things really start to shift for him. I hate to admit it, but I had a hard time getting into this book, it wasn’t so much the story or the subject matter, but the nicknames. Each guy has a nickname, Charming, Wolf, Beast, etc, and they also have real names too, like Charming is Samul Charming, which wasn’t too hard to catch on to, but some of the others were. And the name are used to often and interchangeable in the beginning that it was a bit much for me. Maybe I’m just terrible at names. Now […]

Dirty Sexy Secret by Nazarea Andrews

I must admit, this is a relatively new author for me, but I liked Stardust Destiny, so I was pretty excited about this book. I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from this book because it is so vastly different then Stardust Destiny, I mean one is basically mobbed up and the other is small town USA, but regardless I was ready to jump in with both feet. It’s beyond obvious when this book first starts that there is a lot of backstory going on between the characters, and this is one of those books where it slowly is all revealed to you. I like backstory, and I like how it wasn’t all throw at you all at once, the slow reveal kept me interested in finding out more as the book continued. So this book is a lot about coming home, our heroine, Hazel, is back after four years away, and she has some seriously strained relationships. Her and her best friend Gabe are in this weird awkward place. Her foster brother Eli and her seem to be doing better then Hazel is with any of her other relationships, but things are definitely different. And as for Archer… her other foster brother, well things are tension filled, and maybe that’s because he’s the reason she left in the first place. Having feelings for him was never part of her plan, so she ran. While there is a lot of interpersonal relationship dynamics at work here, and they are really […]

Stardust Destiny by Nazarea Andrews

I love books that reimagine old stories, I’m the girl who likes fairytales retold, or modern day retellings of Shakespeare. But this book super intrigued me because I’ve never read a retelling Helen of Troy, so I was really excited about this book. I have to say if you don’t read anymore of the review, just know that I really loved it, and my biggest complaint is having to wait for book two to come out in few months. So Ileana is our heroine, and man before this book even starts she has had a hard life. She’s the daughter of a big time mob family, and when she was young, in an effort to support peace between the families, it was decided that she would basically be given the head of another mob family to marry, essentially a royal merging. I have to say, she makes me sad during so much of this book. She is resigned to doing the right thing for her family, and going through with this marriage, despite the fact that she’s basically never had any freedom or ability to do anything she’s really ever wanted to do. And her relationship with her family is not the best, there is some interesting family drama as well as some family trauma going on to cause this, but it’s sad that she really has no one to trust or turn to when she just wants to talk. So right before the wedding Ileana decides to have just […]
