I really had high hopes for this book, I really wanted to like it, it’s not that I didn’t end up liking it, I just didn’t love it either, I could take it or leave it. I liked the idea of the heroine, Violet, having survived an ordeal and still making a life for herself. And I think the idea of Ryder kind of appealed to me as well, in the synopsis he sounds like a sexy, self-assured guy who kind of helps Violet find her own confidence. Violet had potential to be a character I really liked, but she was just so wishy-washy about everything. I mean one second she seemed able to put her foot down and assert herself, and then next minute she was basically being walked all over. I hated at the beginning of the book she was so okay with being with a man (Zach) who was constantly cheating on her, and yet still wanted to get married to him. It was perplexing. Ryder, was well, a jerk. There is really no way around it. I have a hard time even calling him the hero in this story, because I didn’t really like him at all. He has horrible motives about thing, and he gets other people involved in these insane hurtful plans, including plans that are set out to hurt Violet.
