I thought the premise of this book was kind of cute. I don’t know about you but I love the idea of small towns, my husband grew up in a small town and he assures me I wouldn’t enjoy actually living in one, but in books I love them. I love the added drama element of everyone in town knowing everyones business, I really love it when the town itself becomes its own character in the book, so I had high hopes for this small town. Plus I thought maybe the added element of the future Megamart being built would add for some interesting drama, and the fact that Ivy’s ex-fiance is the town planner to Ivy’s mayor, just screamed an opportunity for some fun scenes between the two of them. I would love to say why I thought this book was just okay, but honestly I don’t have much of an opinion about it. It’s rare that a book doesn’t evoke strong feelings in me. Don’t get me wrong, in no way did I think this book was bad, because the writing isn’t bad at all, I think maybe the characters just didn’t speak to me, and I didn’t make the kind of connection I usually do with characters. I do think that there is some truly funny parts within the book, mainly because on character interaction.
