In Your Dreams by Kristan Higgins

I adore Kristan Higgins, she is hands down without a doubt one of my favorites. This was my first book I have read in the Blue Heron series, and it’s definitely a stand alone, so you can read this without having read any of the other books in the series. I thought this was going to be an interesting book, mainly because the premise of going to your ex-fiance’s wedding, just doesn’t seem like something I would ever want to do. I mean seriously, just seems like a bad time to me. So Emmaline is trying desperately to find a date to take with her to this wedding. And someone suggests that she take Jack with her, the all around nice guy in town. Apparently he’s done this kind of thing before. Emmaline doesn’t really even want to go to this wedding, but the groom’s family is still friends with her family, and her family is going to be at the wedding, her family that seems to overanalyze her, and really don’t do a great job and making her feel good about herself. Emmaline isn’t the only one dealing with issues, Jack is also dealing with some heavy stuff. He’s had a divorce in his past that I think has kind of messed him up on relationships. And on top of that he also is suffering from a bit of a case of PTSD after a rescuing some kids out of serious car accident. These two seem to be a […]

My One and Only by Kristan Higgins

Well this book is going to go down in history as one of my all time favorites. It’s one of those book for me, that just stuck with me. This is not the first Kristan Higgins books I have ever read, the first was Just One of the Guys, and while I absolutely adore that book, this one is the one that cemented Kristan Higgins place on my list of favorite authors. I absolutely love Higgins writing style, she breathes real life into the characters with her words, and they read so authentic. It’s so much easier to identify with a character when you actually believe that they could be real people. I love that all of her characters have quirks and flaws. I also really love that Higgins books are longer than a lot of the romances I read these days. Part of the reason why I love this about her books is because they read more like a slow burn then anything else, there is so much build up within the books, so much character development, that when you get to the payoff at the end it’s just all the more sweeter. I can’t even put into words how much I appreciate that. So part of the reason why I really adore this book is because it is a second chance book, two exes, and not just exes, but two people who married and divorce (in my opinion divorce is way more painful then a breakup) who end […]

Just One of the Guys by Kristan Higgins

I adore this book! Like hands down adore this book! This was the first book of Kristan Higgins that I have read, and I have to admit that I am totally, without a doubt hooked on her work. I think I’ve read like six of her books since reading this one. I love romance books where people are best friends, especially ones where one of the friends is carrying a torch for the other one. I also want to mention that one of the reasons why I love her books is because they are full length books, they aren’t short or medium sized, I love really having a lot of time with the characters to fall in love with them. I adore Chastity, her name alone is hilarious (Chastity Virginia if I remember correctly). She has four older brothers who have strong ties to the fire department, including her dad who is the fire chief. I can’t imagine growing up with four older brothers was easy for her dating life, but hey they are good brothers and they love her very much. The family friend is Trevor, and he’s just as much as part of the family as anyone else. Trevor is Chastity’s first love, and she is still completely in love with him when she moves back to town. Only she’s pretty sure it’s never going to happen, so she’s got to get on with living her life. Enter Ryan Darling. The doctor. Who is slightly on the arrogant side. And […]
