A Fool for You by Katee Robert

I read The Marriage Contract not that long ago, and I really did love it, it was a pretty awesome book, so when this book came my way I was excited to read it. This book has second chances and a baby in the mix, which always makes for some seriously heightened emotions. This is book three in the series, but it is without a doubt a stand alone, although I think you get to see characters from the other books in this one, so that might be a plus for people who followed the series. So when the book starts we meet our heroine, Hope, who is on her way back to her home town, the first time in over a decade, going to set up a scholarship to honor her brother. There is a lot of baggage for Hope when it comes to going back home, the place where her brother died, the same accident that killed her brother also took away her ability to run and be and athlete, and left her dealing with some level of pain for the rest of her life and some serious scarring (both emotionally and physically). I liked Hope a lot, she’s made a life for herself that she could be proud of and hasn’t let the tragedy in her life stop her. I liked that she is a strong independent woman, I also liked that she didn’t try and keep the news of the baby from Danny, I mean she […]

His Lover to Protect by Katee Robert

I liked the idea behind this book, or maybe it was that I liked the setting behind this book. There is always something super romantic to me about meeting someone in a foreign country and falling for them, or at the very least having a couple of nights of passion. So Alexis basically abandoned her home life and jumped on a plane to Europe. I felt for her in this book, she was dealing with a lot of things before her trip, her mother had passed, her grandparents were like the opposite of supportive people, she got really sick (to which the people she cared about in her life reacted horribly too), and then as if it wasn’t enough for her to deal with, her fiance left her. If anyone needed a trip to get her blood pumping again it was Alexis. Like I said, I felt for Alexis and her situation, and in general I liked her. I did think she needed a jumpstart, she was so in her head about things, and then on some other things, she didn’t fully think them through. But at the end of the day, she really needed Luke. So Luke is a grumpy dude. I mean really. He used to be in the military and was seriously injured, like basically had to have his leg reconstructed. Needless to say he wouldn’t have been my first choice when asking my buddy to keep an eye on Alexis while she hikes around Europe. There […]
