It’s Always Been You by Jessica Scott

I’ve been holding on to this book for a while now, because I am always a bit on the nervous side when it comes to reading military romances. I think it’s really difficult to write authentic feeling military romances unless you’ve either served yourself or you are married to the military. Turns out Jessica Scott fits right into those fields, and her writing comes across as completely believable and authentic. Hubby is army and so is my father in law, so I really appreciated some of the little nuances and nicknames that I’ve become so familiar with, but you don’t necessarily have to have military experience to appreciate this book, I think it’s enjoyable for all. So Ben is carrying some serious issues from combat, and he’s probably one of the few officers out there right now who have no desire to ever command anything or anyone. He has a really jaded outlook at what officers really do, basically he believes officers these days only look out for themselves and serve their soldiers up on platters to cover up their own mistakes. Unfortunately for Ben his unit is a mess and officers all over the place are being fired and Ben is suddenly in a command position and he wants to be anywhere but there.
