I have to admit I wasn’t super excited about this book, and it’s not because the synopsis didn’t draw me in (because it did), but rather because I am so hit or miss with Janet Evanovich, but maybe the addition of Lee Goldberg is what made this book a solid like for me. One of the things I always enjoy about Janet’s books are the sense of humor in them. I definitely enjoyed the humor in this book, it wasn’t necessarily fall on the floor laughing kind of humor but rather a steady stream of comedy in the book, between the dialogue, the situations, the descriptions, the comedy was ever present within the book. I think the humor is part of the reason why the book feels fast paced, it really helps keep you engaged. So even though I think the humor definitely plays a role in the pacing in the book, the events in the book really do happen pretty quickly, it’s really a one thing right after the other. You won’t find the characters in this book siting around moping or chilling in the front of the television. There is always something going on, but at the same time it feels organic and not rushed.
