Hot for the Fireman by Gina L. Maxwell

I love books with firemen, they are definitely one of my favorite men in uniform guys for sure. I also really like books where the two characters have a one night stand and then they show up in the future in each others lives, it always makes for some interesting situations. I like the chemistry that Olivia and Erik had right from the beginning, and I think part of why that chemistry worked is because they both seemed to be in the same place emotionally. Erik is going through something at work, he’s basically been taken off active duty until he gets some PTSD issues under control, so I think that is leaving him feeling pretty out of control and a little bit in denial as well. Olivia on the other hand is also living a little bit in denial, well maybe no denial, but she’s pretty much refusing to move forward in her personal life. It’s like she pushed the pause button after her last relationship ended, and when she finally decided to try moving forward she was quick to quit. So when these two meet at the liquor store after each ditching their respective plans for the night, they have a great dynamic, and are honestly just what the other person needs. Erik is likable for sure. I wasn’t expecting him to be prior service military, or for basically his entire team at the firehouse to be people who served in the army (some of them even served […]

I like my work dirty and my sex even dirtier. It takes a hell of a lot to tilt my moral compass, and dancing as a private stripper for horny suburbanites doesn’t even register. Neither does hooking up with them afterward whenever the mood strikes—it’s one of the bennies of the job—but it’s always a one-and-done. I don’t do repeat performances. Ever. Until I meet the one girl in all of Chicago not interested in dry humping my junk. She’s all I can think about, and that’s a problem, because I made sure she wants nothing to do with me. Tempting Her Best Friend by Gina L. Maxwell

I love best friend romances! I mean come on, who wouldn’t want to fall in love with their best friend, at least they know all your good and bad traits and they still love you anyway. This one was pretty cute, mainly because most of it takes place at a romance book convention in Las Vegas (as someone who wants more than anything to go to book convention, this was a cool thing for me to read about). So Alyssa and Dillon are not just best friends but they are also next door neighbors. More than that it seems like the two of them both have a thing for each other that they have never told one another because they are both harboring some seriously reservations about relationships due to some past history with their respective families. As far as Alyssa knows Dillion has a steady stream of short term hook ups but has no desire for anything else, and she doesn’t think he even sees her as an option. But as soon as she tells him of her plan for a Vegas hook up he springs into action and follows her there and offers up his services. I have to admit that their whole dynamic is kind of great, their chemistry is awesome. The sex scenes are also just as great, there’s a great one in the hotel room that gets a little crazy. But there is this guy, this gay guy at the hotel who is in charge or […]
