I absolutely adore second chance books, so I was pretty excited about this book because its a second chance at your first love, and I think its a concept everyone can understand: the one who got away. Also I thought the prologue was really strong, it was a great opening to the book and made you want to know what had happened. Gotta love a strong start to a book. I honestly felt like the first half of the book was really strong. Cat is in college and has really created the perfect future for herself, basically not acknowledging anything from her past at all. Which of course means no one knows anything about her before she got to college. So at Homecoming when her boyfriend, who is everything one paper that she could possibly want, proposes it’s a no brainer. Except second after she says yes, she sees the guy who got away, the guy who she had no idea what had happened to. It definitely through some heavy wrinkles in her plans. Cat’s fiance, Ethan, was so not my favorite. He’s not a bad guy, really he isn’t. There is never any cheating or really any real love triangle between Cat/Ethan/Heath. But even so I didn’t like him. What kind of guy proposes to a woman who has never volunteered literally any information about her past?
