So I picked up this book because I love books about witches, I may have gotten a little warn out with the whole vampire thing in paranormal books, but witches and shifters are my favorites to read about. Plus with this book it seemed like from the synopsis it seemed like our hero would be coming out of a bad place, and I love having kind of a darker hero in books. So while the premise of the book was super intriguing for me, I think this is a book that has to be read in order. I haven’t read the other books in the series, and honestly it took me a long time to really feel like I had a handle on what was going on. The author does try to fill you in on everything without having to do any info dumps on you, but like I said it takes a while to really get a good grasp on everything. So this book has a lot of intrigue and build up, and I think if I had read the other two books, then I would be able to say with certainty that this is a very intricate plot line, one that is definitely interesting to read. When you start the book you have Tristan being basically held hostage in his mind, he’s in a magically induced coma and pretty much everyone has given up on him.
