Veiled Menace by Deborah Blake

I have been dying to get back to urban fantasy for a while now, it’s what got me back into reading after college, so it has a big piece of my heart. I wanted a book that had to do with witches, because I don’t have enough books with witches in them. I picked up this book thinking it was the first book in the series (its not) and when I realized it wasn’t I was slightly worried I would feel like I missed out, but the author did a great job of recapping in a way that wasn’t overwhelming and I never felt like I was lost of confused, so if you happen upon this book without reading the first you will still be good to go. Okay first off, I liked this book, I feel like over the past couple of years Urban Fantasy is kind of dying out, or being seriously reduced, so I was so happy to find a book recently released that was of pretty good quality. I liked the law enforcement angle, especially since in this world the supernatural races seem to really kind of stick to their own, this way Donata has a reason to interact with all kinds and it much more fun story. Donata by herself though is pretty interesting, she is kind of low-key, especially compared to the people in her family.
