Best Friends with the Billionaire by Coleen Kwan

I don’t know about you guys but I really love fake relationships! There is always so much set up to make the relationship believable to the outside world and then of course the build up to will they or won’t they give the relationship a real genuine shot, man I just love build up in romances. In this particular case the fake relationship is going on between two people who are very close friends. I really liked these two, and their friendship. Cassie has always had a crush on Kirk, and she really wishes that just once he would see her as something more as his close friend from school. The thing about Kirk is that he was married before, his wife passed away, and for Cassie watching him get married was hard for her, but seeing him destroyed after his wife passed away was just as hard. But time has moved forward and Kirk is trying to close a deal that he really needs to have a girlfriend around for, he never really ever considered that things with Cassie would ever go beyond the fake relationship. I loved how Cassie was the one who pushed forward in trying to get a friends with benefits relationship with Kirk, she puts forth this confident attitude and goes for what she wants, even though she isn’t really that confident when it comes to him. And these two really do heat up when they finally do go beyond just a simple friendship. I […]

His Millionaire Maid by Coleen Kwan

Starting your life over as someone else, I have to say that is what appealed to me about this book. I mean I think everyone at one time or another has thought about what their lives would be like if they were someone else or doing something else. Although not everyone drives their car into a lake and then takes that as a sign to just be someone else. Needless to say I was intrigued. So Nina is the daughter of a very shrewd businessman, who is super rich, and she is basically humored throughout her life, and her recent promotion at work wasn’t one she earned. Nina wants to be her own person. She wants people to like her for who she is and not the amount of money that she has in her bank account. I can understand that. This book could have gone either way for me. Nina shows up at the inn and goes to work as a maid, and lets face it, she was either going to be a hard worker or she was going to fold under doing actual labor (after all she is a rich girl). Thankfully Nina worked her butt off. I loved how sincere she was in her desire to do well, I mean she worked so hard. And more than that she was nice to everyone, she worked hard to get the respect of everyone there, and she advocated for her new friends when she could. I couldn’t help but […]

White-Hot Holiday by Coleen Kwan

I love Christmas, more than most normal people love Christmas. I do have a tendency to listen to Christmas music in the middle of summer, and literally my living room is Christmas all year round (hey we are in the middle of remodel so there was no room to store the decorations so I just decorated the living room instead, don’t judge). Anyway I was excited to read this book because its Christmas in Australia which means Christmas in the summer, something I have never experiences, but I would think might be pretty cool. I will say right off the bat this book is well, fluffy, full on fluffy. It’s very cutesy, almost too much so for my taste. I loved that Naomi is in love with Christmas, because hey I love Christmas too. And I didn’t mind that Aaron wasn’t exactly all about Christmas, but I didn’t think he was a bah humbug as Naomi made him out to be. I have to say the book started off a bit on the slow side. And more than that I thought that the conversations between the two of them didn’t seem to be all that organic, also Naomi kind of annoyed me, at one point she used the phrase “pooh poohed” and it just made her seem to be juvenile. As the book went on though the romance picked up and the pacing got better and I thought it was a cute romance. If you are looking for for a […]
