More Than a Cowboy by Cathy McDavid

Who doesn’t love a cowboy? I know I love em. I think part of what stood out to me about this book was that it was three women who were making their way in a world dominated by men, and more than that they were wildly successful at running a rodeo business. There is a lot going on in this book, a series of difficult family dynamics, a quest to find out the truth about something that happened many years ago, and of course a bit of a love story. So the book starts of with Liberty meeting her father, Mercer, for the first time (well not meeting him for the first time, since he’s also the father of her brother and sister, but she didn’t actually know he was her father until she was an adult). Liberty is of course very emotional at this meeting. And who should also be at the meeting, well that would be Deacon, the boy she’s always had a crush on, but it turns out Deacon is her father’s lawyer and the business her mother owned actually half belongs to her father and he wants back in. To say this is a recipe for disaster would be a bit of an understatement. So first off, I am torn on how I feel about Mercer.
