Fake Fiancee by Ilsa Madden-Mills

I’m a big fan of Ilsa, I mean I think I have read Dirty English like twenty times by now and Filthy English was awesome too, so I was super excited when I heard about this book. I also have a tendency to really love the whole fake relationship dynamic too, plus add in some college backdrop and I am more then happy to jump right in and get lost in this book. So when we meet Sunny right off the bat you know that she hasn’t exactly had the easiest life, she’s running away from home when we meet her in the prologue, and the way she is running you know life has been hard. When the book really starts though she is well into college, just like Max is. Sunny has sworn off jocks after her last boyfriend cheated, and Max is not looking for anything other then football especially since his last girlfriend faked a pregnancy to trap him. I have to admit I love the way these two met, I mean having a groupie crash into your parked car and drive off so you have to go next door to your neighbor and demand her information is kind of a hilarious meet cute. I liked how stand up of a guy Max was, right off the bat willing to help her or even pay for the damage (granted he just really wanted to keep him image clean because he really wanted the Heisman). But you could […]

Casanova by Emma Hart

Casanova by Emma Hart

Without a doubt I adore Emma Hart, I don’t think that will ever change. She has a great writing style that is just so easy to fall into. I was looking forward to this book because I love books where the main characters are antagonistic towards each other. What can I say, I’m a girl who likes her books with a bit of drama. Plus Emma has such a great history of laugh out loud moments within her books. Going into the novel, I knew that Lani hated Brett. I knew there was some sort of history behind their relationship, that ended in her hating him, leaving home, and never looking back. I was really looking forward to finding out what the catalyst was for his extreme displeasure towards Brett. For me honestly, I wasn’t impressed with the reason. It’s been eight years, they were kids, she overheard something, and basically hit the ground running. I don’t think it was grounds to leave everything behind and never talk to him again. I don’t think it was grounds for her to act the way she does towards him when she finally sees him. That being said, I did like Lani, she seems like a pretty cool chick. She’s made a good career for herself, she’s a great writer, she has a lot of integrity as a person, so outside of the reasoning for her feelings for Brett I did actually really like her personality. I didn’t love Brett. Wait, no I […]

Devil’s Mark by Megan Crane

A few years ago I went through a massive pile of books about MC’s, I loved them, could not get enough, and then I burnt myself out. I’ve started reading them again, and thankfully I am remembering why I loved them in the first place. Plus I really liked the heroine in this book is basically like the town princess, so the idea of her hooking up with the town bad boy is kind of hot. When we first meet Killian, or “Uptown,” as he is known to the club, he has a big chip on his shoulder. He definitely didn’t grow up easy, and he is finally at the point where he can bring down the hurt on the town mayor. As it turns out Killian and the mayor have a past, the mayor used to provide Killian’s mom with drugs and hook up with her. Totally understandable why he would hate the mayor. So when the mayor’s daughter Holly walks into the club bar looking for a job, Killian sees this as the perfect opportunity to get back at the mayor and maybe even get Holly into his bed. I really liked Holly, she had a lot more backbone then I was expecting out of her. She grew up a princess, always following the rules, doing exactly what he dad wanted her to, basically little miss perfect. And now that it’s come out that her father isn’t the guy she thought he was she is feeling kind of […]

New Year and a Blog Reboot

Posted January 1, 2017 by Kate in Updates / 0 Comments

Hey Guys, It’s a new year and I’m so excited for it. I am going to start doing things a little bit different on the blog. Some of this started in the last parts of last year, but I am enforcing these changes officially this year. I am no longer accepting reviews with hard deadlines, with the exception of from a few authors I work with regularly or publishing houses that I work with regularly. I love reviewing books, last year I set myself up to fail big time. I took every scheduled review that came my way, and then when I got behind I felt so bad that I just wanted to stop reviewing all together. That is not what I want. So my plan for this year is to read what ever I want in whatever order I want, so I have more freedom to choose what I am in the mood for, and then post a review right after I finish reading it. No more making having a dedicated reading order or feeling stuck having to read a happy sweet romance when all I want is some super angsty drama (or vice versa). I’m not going to be aiming for 200 reviews this year, I’m just going to review as I read, which should mean a lot more reviews for the site. I can’t tell you how many books I read last year that never got reviewed because I was so backed up on reviews that were scheduled […]

Only for You by Naima Simone

Only for You by Naima Simone

I wasn’t sure what to expect out of this book, I liked the blurb, the idea behind two people running into each other after a long time apart, separated by more then just time, but also by betrayal. Just works for me. What can I say I am a sucker for the drama, I like when two people have a lot of pain and suffering to work through. Honestly, the reason why this book gets three stars for me is because it’s almost exclusively physical. Yes there are some emotional moments, but most of the emotional turmoil is internal and all happens while naked and heating up the pages. Don’t get me wrong I like some hotness in my books, but I also like there to me more than just physical. Our leading man is Killian (seriously love this name lately) and he’s definitely carrying some serious baggage. He was sent to jail for two years, after the woman he loved basically turned him in and he never heard from her again. He has some serious PTSD like symptoms when it comes to dealing with his experiences in jail, mostly in confined spaces. He’s definitely more guarded, and opposed to letting people in. So when Gabby shows up in his nightclub, its not at all something he was prepared for. I totally understood why he was apprehensive about seeing her, being with her, loving her, etc. It makes total sense. But there is still a lot of heat going on […]

Could’ve Said Yes by Tracy March

I can honestly say I don’t think I have read a book where someone works for the EPA, sure there have been the occasional book where one of the characters is really big on the environment, but never someone who worked for the EPA. So because of that reason I was pretty interested in reading this book. I actually really loved the environmental aspect of the book, it really worked for me. Ellie is back in town after a disastrous break up with her ex, she’s finally doing what she really wants to do now that she is on her own. She opened her own art gallery and does some side photography work for the newspaper, all in all her life is going pretty good. She also has some really good relationships with her brothers, who I really liked. So when the new guy shows up in town, it definitely opens her to the possibility of a relationship, something I don’t think she was expecting. I really liked the way the author was able to describe Ellie’s photography and art, sometimes its hard to visualize in my head what exactly an author is talking about when it comes to art, but this was really easy for me to see, and I loved it. I also really loved the dynamics between Ellie and the town, it’s a small town so everyone knows everyone, and they all really seemed like good people. Now as for our hero, Collin I really liked him.
