Hey Guys, It’s a new year and I’m so excited for it. I am going to start doing things a little bit different on the blog. Some of this started in the last parts of last year, but I am enforcing these changes officially this year. I am no longer accepting reviews with hard deadlines, with the exception of from a few authors I work with regularly or publishing houses that I work with regularly. I love reviewing books, last year I set myself up to fail big time. I took every scheduled review that came my way, and then when I got behind I felt so bad that I just wanted to stop reviewing all together. That is not what I want. So my plan for this year is to read what ever I want in whatever order I want, so I have more freedom to choose what I am in the mood for, and then post a review right after I finish reading it. No more making having a dedicated reading order or feeling stuck having to read a happy sweet romance when all I want is some super angsty drama (or vice versa). I’m not going to be aiming for 200 reviews this year, I’m just going to review as I read, which should mean a lot more reviews for the site. I can’t tell you how many books I read last year that never got reviewed because I was so backed up on reviews that were scheduled […]
Hey everyone, As I am sure some of you have noticed, I’ve been away for several weeks now. I hate being away from the sight, and even more to be away from reading. But I am back in the saddle and going to be putting up reviews starting tomorrow. But first I wanted to explain my absence. I’ve been dealing with having M.S. for some time now, but for the most part I am pretty average. Unfortunately a few weeks ago the relapsing part of relapsing remitting ms took hold. For me that means more fevers than I can count, extreme fatigue, and the worst of all, really bad eyesight issues (which means no reading for me). Thank goodness, I am feeling so much better now, just in time for the holiday season (and thank you so much to those of you who checked it with me to see how I was doing). I am really loving being able to read again, and I can’t wait to share my thought about books with you guys. I hope all of you are enjoy this holiday season, here’s to a holiday full of books and a new year filled with even more books. Lots of Love, Kate
Hello my lovely readers, Today is Labor Day (if you live here in the states) and I have decided to take the day off from reviewing. I occassionally take breaks but almost never announce them, but I figured I would say something today because I wanted to tell everyone who has today off to enjoy it, I know I am going to go out of my way to make sure I have an enjoyable day (code for good book, Aaron Sorkin on my tv, and maybe a Woodchuck or two). See you all tomorrow my lovelies! Kate
Hey Guys, Sorry no review or book stuff today, I finally broke down and bought a new computer for my new (one day to be completed office), so I have been spending the past day and a half getting everything moved over to the new iMac. I will be back tomorrow with book goodness, specifically a post from Jeffe Kennedy on Saturday and a review of Mandy Baxter’s The Billionaire Cowboy on Sunday. See you guys soon! Me
Happy Fourth Everyone! I’ve always loved fireworks, they are just so much fun when you are a kid, it’s a big deal here where we are (we live right next door to a military base). So needless to say, Happy Fourth, I hope you all enjoy your holiday, I know we will! PS Don’t forget to read a good book 😉
Happy Father’s Day everyone! Today is one of my favorite days, because it celebrates some of the great men in my life. I’m really lucky, I have my dad, my amazing step dad, and my super awesome father-in-law as main fixtures in my life. So here’s to all the great men out there who are awesome dad’s to their kids (biological and otherwise).
Happy Easter Everyone! I know not everyone celebrates Easter, but it’s one of my favorite holidays and some of my favorite childhood memories come from Easter celebrations with friends and families, so it has a special place in my heart. I hope everyone enjoys this lovely Sunday and I hope you are all making great memories! Lots of love!
Welcome to 2015 HLB Readers! I’m really hoping this year turns out to be just as good as the last one. I have a lot of stuff going on this year with my family, but I hope to have just as much good stuff going on for Home.Love.Books. as well. To start with, the plan is to have a new book review on every even numbered day, and while this year will again primarily be romance driven, I am hoping to get a significant amount of urban fantasy in the mix as well. I have to admit, while I am loving my emersion in the romance genre, I am without a doubt missing the things that go bump in the night, shifters the most though. As always I am open to any feedback from any of you about things you want to see on on the site, you can always e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I look forward to spending this year reading fabulous books and sharing them with all of you. Kate
Happy New Years Eve/New Years everyone! I hope you all have a wonderful night and everyone gets kissed at midnight. My favorite thing about New Years is always the pretty fireworks, especially the pink ones. I’m really looking forward to a new year full of amazing new books, and I hope you will all join me here in the new year to read them with me. Have fun, don’t drink and drive, and enjoy the party!
Merry Christmas HLB readers! I love this day, it’s probably my favorite day of the year. Without a doubt it’s just a magical time, and I sincerely hope that everyone one of you has a wonderful Christmas. And if you don’t celebrate Christmas, I hope you had a wonderful holiday season. Oh, and I hope you all got lots of books. And here’s a little clip from one of my favorite Christmas movies 🙂
