Shift Happens by J.C. McKenzie

I have to admit I seriously loved this book. I mean, when I read the synopsis I thought I would like the book okay, I have been looking for shifter books recently, but I really didn’t expect to love this book the way I did. Seriously, if they synopsis doesn’t pull you in, I urge you to give it a shot anyway, because the synopsis doesn’t this book no justice at all. So Andy’s job is basically a government agent who takes out any supe who becomes an issue. So one night on the job, she attacks her target, only her target has backup, in the form of his very own wolfpack as bodyguard, oh and the guy was human too, something was so not right with this situation. Before Andy knows it she’s been caught and she’s in all kinds of trouble with the local Master Vamp, the wolfpack, and her job. Andy certainly has a lot to work through in the course of this book, and not a lot of time to do it in. It definitely made for one wild ride. So the wolf alpha is Wick, I like his first name better, but hey is called Wick in this book so that’s what I am going to stick with. I loved with. Like seriously. He has all the standard alpha wolf traits you know and love in a urban fantasy, but he isn’t so full of himself that he is overly pushing or lacking understanding, he […]

My One and Only by Kristan Higgins

My One and Only by Kristan Higgins

Well this book is going to go down in history as one of my all time favorites. It’s one of those book for me, that just stuck with me. This is not the first Kristan Higgins books I have ever read, the first was Just One of the Guys, and while I absolutely adore that book, this one is the one that cemented Kristan Higgins place on my list of favorite authors. I absolutely love Higgins writing style, she breathes real life into the characters with her words, and they read so authentic. It’s so much easier to identify with a character when you actually believe that they could be real people. I love that all of her characters have quirks and flaws. I also really love that Higgins books are longer than a lot of the romances I read these days. Part of the reason why I love this about her books is because they read more like a slow burn then anything else, there is so much build up within the books, so much character development, that when you get to the payoff at the end it’s just all the more sweeter. I can’t even put into words how much I appreciate that. So part of the reason why I really adore this book is because it is a second chance book, two exes, and not just exes, but two people who married and divorce (in my opinion divorce is way more painful then a breakup) who end […]

Oh, Naughty Night! by Leslie Kelly

Oh, Naughty Night! by Leslie Kelly

I totally and completely loved this book, I think it was the combination of holidays and two people who knew each other when they were kids being able to come together and figure it all out. I love second chance books. I love when kids who hated each other as adults, realize that something more than hate is under the surface and be able to get the chance they really deserve. So the thing I love about this book, or I think what pulled me into the book to the point of not being able to put it down, is how the whole thing started. Everything starts on Halloween when Lulu is out at a bar and her friends point out this super hot guy, only when Lulu sees him she realizes that the hot guy her friends are staring at is actually a guy from her past, a guy she used to be terrible to and vice versa. But she goes over there to say hi to him anyways, it had been years since they saw each other, so she was beyond surprised when Chaz introduces himself to her, and that’s when she realizes, he has no idea who she is, maybe it was the costume, or maybe it was the amount of time since they have seen each other. Either way she goes along with it, and never reveals who she is. The chemistry between these two is off the charts amazing, and I loved the scene between […]

Fading Light by Angela Dennis

Fading Light by Angela Dennis

I used to read a lot more urban fantasy that I do now, I cut back when I felt like the story lines were starting to meld together and felt in some ways repetitive. I’m not sure what exactly it was about Angela Dennis’s first book, Shadows of Fate, that made me want to read it in spite of my dire need to UF break, but something about it called to me, and I’m glad cause I loved it. After thinking about it for a while the reason I like this series is largely because it feels like fresh air to me, in a way it reminds me of Amanda Bonilla’s UF series, they both have unique elements within them that make there feel like something new and exciting in a genre that sometimes feels overrun with too much of the same. Needless to say I liked the sequel almost as much as I liked the first book. So part of what makes the book/series so good to me is the partnership between Brenna and Gray. Yes there is romance between them, and a lot of love, but more than that they really do work at their best only when they are together. Gray said it best when he said their magic complements each other, when they are fighting side by side they are just better than they would be on their own. I loved that about them. There is no lesser partner. Also I love that the two of […]

The Hook Up by Kristen Callihan

Oh my goodness, I am completely and utterly in love with this book. I have to admit that I have read this book probably three or four times in the past 30 days, I almost never reread books, but this book totally breaks the tradition for me. I cant wait to read more of this series, because the writing in this book is really what sold me. I adored Anna’s character in this book, she is really the driving force of this relationship. Yes Drew wants Anna, but she is the one holding all the cards, which I adore, because quite frankly I am tired of romances where the woman is completely being led around by a guy. Anna is a strong girl, and she’s smart, and well just kinda awesome. Drew is a big time football player, which I have to admit was not something I was expecting to enjoy. I don’t know about you, but I was kind of expecting Drew to end up being a entitled jerk, but as it turns out he is just a normal guy who has had some seriously hard life experiences that have changed the way he acts and looks at the world. I loved that he followed Anna’s led and never pushed to hard, but I also really loved that when Anna was still following her rule of no kissing, that it actually really hurt him, and he wanted to be more to her then just this guy that she was […]

Rule by Jay Crownover

I absolutely love this book. I wish I had found this book sooner. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series (especially since the latest book in the series just recently came out). There are a lot of things going on in this book that are right up my alley: tattooed and pierced guys, unrequited love, friends trying out a relationship, the evil ex, crazy family dynamics, and so much more. So Shaw is my kind of girl. She hasn’t exactly had it hard in life (I mean she’s not a starving kid on the street by any means) but her family doesn’t actually treat her like a member of the family, she’s more of a possession to be used in a manner that makes them look better or gets them ahead in some way. Seriously her mother… I wanted to hit that woman. Her mother keeps pushing this guy on her, who is basically a stalker and beyond creepy, but hey he’s the son of a judge so obviously that means he is just the guy for her. It’s no wonder that when Shaw was a kid she ended up being much more of a family member to the Archer’s then she ever was to her own. And the Archer family… oh so many words. Remy and Rule are twins, and Remy and Shaw were best friends, who everyone thought were way more than friends. Remy died before the book begins so there’s a lot of hurt […]

The Kiss Test by Shannon McKelden

The Kiss Test by Shannon McKelden

I absolutely, without a doubt love this book, I think it’s going to be one of my favorites for a long time. I love romances where two best friends fall in love, especially friends who have a long standing relationship like Margo and Chris have in this one, we are talking over a decade of friendship here. Friendship that has seen them through the awkward teenage years, family hardships, college, relationships, and more, so to say they have a strong foundation would be a bit of an understatement. But this book was so much more than just a great friendship turning into something more, I laughed throughout the entire book, was completely emotionally invested in the characters, and the pacing was phenomenal. So Margo is kind of awesome, or maybe it’s just the way McKelden writes her, but either way I loved it. Margo starts the book having a rough go of it, she loses her job, her boyfriend breaks up with her, she has to move out and has no where to go, oh and did I mention she has a bit of an accident with some stairs and ends up with a head injury that leads to some seriously comical falling down throughout the entirety of the book. Margo and her best friend Chris go on a road trip together, mainly because Margo can’t drive, let alone be left on her own thanks to her new found injury. And just when you think the comical ridiculousness of Margo […]

Sweet Addiction by J. Daniels

I will admit that the reason I looked at this book was because I kind of fell in love with the cover, yes yes, I know, don’t judge a book by its cover, but I couldn’t help it, it was all sparkly and I love sparkly. That being said I loved the book about a million times more then I loved the cover, it was just so awesome and wonderful, and I never wanted it to end (BRING ON THE SEQUEL)! So the book basically starts with Dylan attending the wedding of her ex-boyfriend with her gay best friend (who is also her employee at the bakery she owns). Of course this a tad bit on the awkward side. That is until she falls into the lap of tall, dark, and yummy. Needless to say Dylan has her mind on one things and one thing only, hooking up the the yummy guy, so some no strings attached wedding fun times. The scene that happens in the men’s bathroom is pretty epic, hot and steamy, and totally more than Dylan or Reese could have imagined. So of course that means it can’t end there. Dylan doesn’t want a relationship (for reasons you will find out) and comes up with all the rules for their between the sheets only relationship, like no sleep overs, no fun times in a bed, you know standard I’m not getting to involved rules. I think it’s actually pretty funny how much Dylan clings to this non-relationship […]
