10 Questions with Joya Ryan

Today we are lucky enough to have Joya Ryan join us here on the site for 10 Questions, my favorite author feature. In case you haven’t heard of Joya Ryan, she has a new book out, Tell Me You Need Me (which you can buy HERE), which I will be reviewing on the site in the next couple of days. But today she joins us to answer our 10 Questions as the hero from Tell Me You Need Me, Gage. So without further ado, let’s get to know Gage a little bit better! Q: What is the one thing you never leave the house without and why. A: My knife. Because it is an endlessly useful item. Q: What is the number one item on your birthday wish list? A: Chloe. Mostly to get her to agree to go on a date with me. Q: What’s your biggest pet peeve? A: Bad driving. Q: What’s your favorite book? A: Living Off The Land by Chris McNab Q: What’s your go to song to get your amped up? A: “Long Hot Summer Day” by Turnpike Troubadours Q: You walk into a pet store, what animal would you bring home and why? A: Anything that would make Chloe smile. So she’d probably like a sweet dog that keeps her company and goes after any man’s balls that tries to get too close to her. Q: If you could vacation anywhere, where would you go and why? A: Iceland. Exploring that country would be beautiful. Q: What […]

10 Questions with Jennie Marts

Earlier today I reviewed Hidden Away, a super cute romance that I highly recommend you check out, and now I have the author Jennie Marts here with us to do one of my favorite features, 10 Questions! Q: What is the one thing you never leave the house without and why. A: Chapstick and sunglasses. I sort of freak out if I don’t have either of those- like I might die of either sun stroke or chapped lips before I get home in an hour. But in my defense, the Colorado sunshine is brutal and the air is really dry. Q: What is the number one item on your birthday wish list? A: Usually it is jewelry of some sort. I LOVE jewelry- doesn’t have to be expensive. In fact, some of my favorite stuff is matching earring and necklace sets from Kohl’s. I love to accessorize and my family all knows that they are safe getting me any kind of jewelry. I also love books. And this year, I am asking for a pair of noise-cancelling headphones so I can work in Panera and not get distracted by eavesdropping on other patron’s conversations. Q: What’s your biggest pet peeve? A: Mean people, I guess. Life’s too short to be mean. Q: What’s your favorite book? A: Really? That’s sooo hard! My top favorite books would be the Stephanie Plum series, all of the Harry Potters, the Outlander series, Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood, and Montana Sky by Nora Roberts. Q: What’s your go to song […]

10 Questions with Nina Croft

So we are back with another installment of 10 Questions! Have I mentioned how much I love when authors participate in this? Anyway, we are joined today by Nina Croft, the author of His Fantasy Girl, which I reviewed about a week ago (see the review here). Nina awesomely picked a secondary character for this go round, which I love! It’s so much fun to get a glimpse of characters we don’t normally get a lot of background on. So without further ado, here is Rory, Logan and Declan’s dad! I’m Rory McCabe, and if you’ve read Taking Control and His Fantasy Girl, then you’ll have met my sons; Declan and Logan, and their partners; Jess and Abby. And whatever Jess tells you, I’m not all bad. Just mostly. And yeah, if my sons have had relationship issues then it’s probably fair to put at least part of the blame on me. But I love them and only want the best for them. So here’s a little bit about me… Q: What is the one thing you never leave the house without and why. A: A gun. Ha – only kidding. I haven’t carried a gun since…well, that would be telling. These days, I always carry a picture of my granddaughter, Jenny. She’s ten, and I only just found out about her recently, so I’m making up for lost time. She looks a lot like her grandad – but then we McCabes have strong genes. Q: What is the number one […]

10 Questions with E.J. Russell

So today I am happy to be hosting E.J. Russell for our feature, 10 Questions. She has a book out called, Lost in Geeklandia, and if you want to read my review of the book you can click here to read it. Our questions today are being answered by Charlie Forrester, the heroine in Lost in Geeklandia, and a seriously awesome nerd. I hope you enjoy getting to know a little bit better, I know I did.   Q: What is the one thing you never leave the house without and why. A: I need a tether to the internet, so I always carry one with me, whether it’s a cell phone, tablet, or laptop. Or, you know, all three. Q: What is the number one item on your birthday wish list? A: This is going to sound weird, but either a goat or an irrigation pump. Not for me. But organizations like Heifer International allow you to donate items like animals, sustainable farming supplies, and basic needs equipment, to help developing communities. This has been sort of a focus for me since I was a kid. Last year, my roommates donated a beehive in my name. It was awesome. Q: What’s your biggest pet peeve? A: Buggy software. There’s just no excuse. Q: What’s your favorite book? A: Ishmael by Barbara Hambly. It’s the ultimate data mashup between two television shows that she clearly loved as a kid – Star Trek: TOS (set in space in the 23rd century) and Here Come […]

10 Questions with Rosie Miles

We haven’t done one of these in a while, but I’m bringing it back, because it was one of my favorite features on H.L.B. Today we have Rosie Miles joining us and answering the 10 questions today is Maggie Sinclair from her book, Never Surrender, and you can read the review of the book here. So without further ado, here’s Maggie! Q: What is the one thing you never leave the house without and why. A: I never leave home without my “to do” list. I live such a busy life and it helps keep me on track. Q: What is the number one item on your birthday wish list? A: I love a good pamper. So, I’d say, a day at a health spa, you know, have a massage and a facial, and then for a special treatment, a pedicure. Absolute bliss. Q: What’s your biggest pet peeve? A: When someone leaves a dribble of milk in the bottle rather than finish it then throw the empty into the rubbish. Q: What’s your favorite book? A: Old Man’s War by John Scalzi. It’s the first book of a series. I love a series. Q: What’s your go to song to get you amped up? A: Superwoman, by Alicia Keys. The first time I heard that song, I cried. I was competing in a 10K run a couple of weeks back, there was about 1K to go and my legs were beginning to seize. I really thought I was going to stop, […]

10 Questions with Maureen Ryan

Today Colette Freedman joins us for the return of the 10 Questions feature, her character Maureen Ryan will be on the hot seat today! But before we get started here’s a little info about Maureen in case you haven’t had a chance to pick up Colette’s book The Consequences yet. Maureen Ryan, (65), is Robert Walker’s long-term secretary, and is also a close personal friend of Kathy, Robert’s wife.  You could call her a glamorous granny, and she’d not entirely disagree with you.  She is a woman of a certain vintage, with a certain exotic reputation and the life experiences to make her a font of knowledge.  When Kathy first suspects that her husband is having an affair, Maureen is one of the people she turns to for help and advice. An intricately stitched piece of needlework hangs framed on Maureen’s wall.  It contains the complete text of the poem WARNING by Jenny Joseph, which begins with the line, “When I am an old woman I shall wear purple.” Maureen is one of those women who will NEVER wear purple. Q: What is the one thing you never leave the house without and why. There was a time when I stuck a ten dollar bill down my bra and just walked out the door. No bag, no keys, no phone, no computer, no purse. It was incredibly liberating. Nowadays, of course, I go nowhere without my phone. I also have a ring of keys which would make a jailer proud and […]

10 Questions with Gray Warlow

Thanks to Angela Dennis for joining us here on Home.Love.Books. for our new feature, “10 Questions”. For this feature the questions will never changes, but who’s answering them will: the characters from your favorite books will be visiting the site to give you just a little bit more insight into what really makes them tick. So without further ado, here is Gray Warlow from Angela Dennis’s book Shadows of Fate. Q: What is the one thing you never leave the house without and why. A: I never leave the house without my katana strapped to my back.  The Earthly plane is a demonic playground.  You never know what’s going to attack. Q: What is the number one item on your birthday wish list? A: Aside from Brenna with a big red bow around her neck?  Am I allowed to say that?  What’s the rating for this blog? Q: What’s your biggest pet peeve? A: I hate it when people aren’t straightforward.  Just tell me what you think.  I don’t have time to beat it out of you. Q: What’s your favorite book? A: The Council wrote a treatise on warfare.  It’s too bad you can’t get it on the Earthly plane. Q: What’s your go to song to get your amped up? A:  *Grinning*  I have my own battle cry.  Does that count? Q: You walk into a pet store, what animal would you bring home and why? A: Not sure what a pet store is, but I wouldn’t mind having […]
