One night. Let go. Be free.

Even at an early age, Reid Hunter’s future was already planned out. Though he was groomed to become successor of the family business, he quickly discovered his destiny wasn’t through his family’s legacy, but to build his own empire. His plan: takeover Vegas, one building at a time. Known as a hard, no-nonsense man, inside the boardroom and out, Reid isn’t prepared when he comes face to face with a woman from his past. The only one with the ability to make him question everything he stands for.

Raising a child is hard. Raising a child as a young, single mother is downright difficult. Yet Dani Whitley has managed to put herself through college, purchase her own home, and raise the unexpected, but greatly adored son she created while in college, after one night with a gorgeous stranger. Knowing nothing but his first name, Dani has managed to push all thought of Reid out of her mind until one day, nine years later, she is forced to face the man himself. Ruthless and callous, Reid Hunter is nothing like the young man she met at that music festival all those years ago. Yet Dani is still drawn to him, more than she was before.

Sin. Money. Success. Profits. That’s the foundation of Las Vegas. But what happens when one day you realize that it’s not enough? When the greatest thing you could profit is bigger and better than money: love.

Ah the secret baby story line, I really like these when they are done in a way where it isn’t the mom intentionally keeping the dad away (unless of course there is some kind of very valid reason). Thankfully, Dani doesn’t keep Reid from him son intentionally, they had basically a one night stand at a music festival where they didn’t even exchange last names.

So it’s been 8 years since Dani has seen the man who gave her her son, and she has made the most out of those 8 years. She has a great relationship with her son Ryan. She’s close with her sister and her father, who are both big helps when it comes to raising Ryan. And she finished school and is a teacher now, her life is on track, and she is doing well for herself. But the one thing missing is that every once in a while Ryan will ask about his dad, and Dani just doesn’t know what to say, she only wants the best for her son and she knows he deserves a father. I loved her character, she is a really strong woman who cares a lot about her family, her life revolves around her son, and is just a cool chick in general.

Now as for Reid, well he is a bit more of a complicated fellow. He makes me sad a little bit. He knew exactly what his life was going to be like back when he was a kid, and he never had any choice in the matter. He was going to join the family casino and his whole life was going to revolve around that and that alone. He doesn’t have the best past with his family, so it’s understandable how he ended up so hard and basically the world’s biggest work-a-holic. Of course when he finally sees the woman from all those years ago who he still thinks about from time to time, well he could have had a better reaction to it. I would say that he does a pretty good job taking the secret baby thing pretty well, but that’s not to say he didn’t have secrets that he wasn’t exactly fourth coming about to Dani.

I liked these two together, they were really cute, and you could tell as soon as they were in the room together, that they were attracted to each other. I loved all the scenes where they interact with their son too, those were so much fun to read. Overall I liked the book, it was a fun read, pretty quick, and just a good time in general.
