Luke and I had been best friends since kindergarten. He was the type of man women dreamed of - kind, caring, handsome and very protective of those he loved. After countless failed relationships, I grew tired of being single and made my proposition to him. Friends with benefits.

It wasn't easy, but I convinced him to give the new 'relationship' a try.

He had two stipulations. One - we had to remain friends no matter what. And, two - sexually speaking, we had to play by his 'rules'...

I knew Luke was unlike any other man, but being in a relationship with him opened my eyes and made me realize many things about myself. My name is Liv. This is the story of how I fell in love for the first time in my life and the man who caught me when I did.

So I got this book on Kindle Unlimited one night when I was looking for something to read. Honestly, the title appealed to me, I are blunt, I’m a blunt person in real life so this is my kind of title. Plus after reading the blurb I knew I would be on board with two best friends with entering into a friends with benefits relationships, I love those in books. I don’t think I was prepared for the more darker turn the book took, but darker themes never bother me in, part of real life and all that.

So Liv and Luke are best friends, and they have one of those great relationships where they are completely comfortable with each other and really have a good understanding of each other. Luke is actually a really interesting character, I think I definitely liked him a lot more then I liked Liv. He’s very much so a free spirit, he basically spends his life surfing but yet never wants to be signed, money is not something that motivates him. He does have a kind of tortured vibe to him, like something happened to him in his past (and it did). In the beginning when the whole friends with benefits thing happened Luke was actually very concerned because he thinks of himself as like something is wrong with the desires he has for the bedroom. The two of them engage in some interesting between the sheets fun, and honestly if you really like BDSM it’s not really that, it’s written kind of like a light BDSM, it’s not overly graphic I would say.

My big problem with the book came from Liv. She committed the cardinal sin of doing something I just could not forgive her for. In the beginning I liked Liv, I thought she was really good for Luke and vice versa, and she’s a really sweet person who has kind of caretaker type role with Luke (making sure he eats for one), but I liked her. When they start their friends with benefits relationship I liked how curious she was about what she liked and what he liked, and how she wants to kind of experiment, I liked how comfortable they were together. But like I said earlier, it was clear that Luke had a bit of past, and when that past surfaced, Liv was just completely unwilling to deal with it. I mean she basically cuts him off, and for me it was unforgivable. I did not like her anymore, from that moment on. I would have forgiven maybe a temporary situation, where maybe she was shocked or needed time to digest the new information, but it went past that, and I was done with her, cut her off for good.

Ultimately if you are more willing to be forgiving of characters you might enjoy this book a bit more than I did, I wish I had liked it more.
