Fated Match has spent centuries pairing supernatural mates together. Witch and matchmaker, Chloe Donovan, takes pride in helping her clients find their happy endings. But when werewolf alpha and millionaire playboy Kieran Clearwater stalks into her office, she may have finally met the one man she can’t help.
Kieran has no intention of finding his mate. Love is a weakness he can't afford. But with his pack growing more concerned over his single status he, needs to assure them all is well. What better way to do so than to hire a fake girlfriend he can parade around at the annual pack retreat?
Chloe is coerced into becoming the wolf’s temporary mate, but she’s determined to keep their agreement professional. But her seductive partner in crime has other ideas, and his considerable charm makes it difficult for her to keep her eye on the prize. While these two burn hot when they’re together, behind-the-scenes politics work to rip them apart.
I love the idea of a dating service for supernaturals, seriously it just sounds like a fun set up for a book, and even better set up for a romance book. So I went into this book pretty excited about what it might bring, even though it was already a couple books in. Thankfully this book can totally be read on its on, you do get a sense of what the other books are about when you meet some of the other characters in the book, but honestly all that did was make me want to read those other books as well, I wasn’t confused or out of place at all.
So part of the reason why I was excited about this book is because it had to do with wolves, and I love me some werewolves. So Kieran is a werewolf and Chloe is a witch, it seemed like an unlikely pair to me, but I was all for it (in fact I wish I had read more books with witches in them). So the whole premise of the book is that Kieran is looking for a temporary mate, someone who he can bring to his yearly pack get together, to convince them that he is actively looking for a mate, something the pack all want and need him to do (him being the alpha and everything). So he hires the supernatural dating service that Chloe works for, and honestly from the moment he met Chloe you could tell that she fascinated him, so it’s no surprise that he ended up taking her as his fake mate. Chloe goes along with this whole thing because her boss thinks its a great idea, and they agree if she does it she can take over the office while the agency expands. So it’s a win-win for everyone.
Kieran was super interesting to me. He is more than a little damaged, and he is anti-relationship, actually, you know what, he is more anti-getting made a fool of and getting hurt. And I get that, I get that he has baggage and doesn’t really want to open himself up. But what I liked about Kieran is that he is really trying to do the right thing by his pack, you can tell he is a good leader for them.
Chloe was just as interesting to me as Kieran, she’s a force in her own right, but she’s also a bit of an enigma. She doesn’t know a lot about whole she is, about her past/family, so she has this extreme desire to find a place, but at the same time she is very leery about this situation with Kieran. That being said, Chloe was pretty good at trying to open herself up to Kieran, and she makes such an effort with the members of his pact, as I reader I knew I wanted her and Kieran to be together for real early on in the book, which made cheering for them throughout the book all the more fun.
There are some great sexy scenes in this book, but the chemistry in this book is really what kept the heat level high. I liked the writing, and I like how much the author was able to get me interested in the secondary characters without ever overloading me with too much information. I genuinely enjoyed the book from beginning to end, and I am looking forward to reading more by this author in the future.
