There's almost nothing Alessandra Sinclair wouldn't do for Hudson Chase. He was her first love, and she's determined that he'll be her last. But when the terrible truth Hudson has been hiding comes to light, Allie finds herself caught in a deadly game of cat and mouse with a man from her past who's determined to use what he knows to ruin Hudson. Now, the only way to save the man she loves may be to lose him forever...
Hudson has always known that the secrets he keeps could be his downfall, but he never expected them to put Allie's life in danger as well. It's time for him to come clean--before everything he's ever wanted is destroyed...
So I have really enjoyed reading this series from the beginning, and the way the second book ended, well lets just say I was eagerly anticipating the third book so I could find out what was going to happen next. I have really fallen in love with these characters over the first two books, and I was beyond pulling for them to get their happy ending, but I was pretty sure there was going to be some awesome drama leading up to that happy ending, and I wanted to be along for the ride.
So beware of spoilers if you haven’t read the first two books (and if you haven’t stop reading this review and go buy the first two books and read those first), anyway we ended with Allie going to see the evil ex to return the ring and him declaring he was going to take everything from her whether she wanted to or not, seriously that dude is evil. So when the third book started I was seriously concerned for Allie’s safety. I was glad that she didn’t spend the whole book locked in a room, but that doesn’t mean she was off the hook. Fearing for her and Hudson’s safety Allie goes along with evil ex’s plan, end things with Hudson, and make like she is going to marry Evil Ex and hand over her company to him.
So Hudson is seriously awesome. He’s got just enough territorial in him to be interesting, but not so overbearing that he comes off as super possessive or creepy. I loved that he played this whole situation smart, like he knew they had to go along with Evil Ex or risk something really bad happening, but at the same time you know Hudson isn’t going to let anything happen to his girl, and that in the end he is determined to have her forever in his life. He’s just an awesome character and I love him.
As for Allie, well in this book I liked her, as I always have, I just wished that in some parts she would come to conclusions a little bit faster. She didn’t want to involve Hudson in her problem, and I get she wanted to protect him, but come on, shouldn’t she know by now that they are better together. Also Allie is so determined to get this whole thing behind them, so she doesn’t always think he actions through, but I do love how much she cares about the people she loves, so much so that she is willing to put her life on the line.
I thought this was a really good conclusion to series. I really got everything I wanted it out of it, the pacing was good, the characters were awesome as always, and the suspense was right up there. If I had one complaint about the book it would be the demise of the Evil Ex did not last that long (the scene was a little rushed for me). But other than that I seriously recommend this series, I loved it, I hope these authors decide to work together again.
