There's nothing like a near death experience to make a guy reassess his life. And that's exactly what nightclub owner Logan McCabe decides to do, starting with looking up the girl he spent one wild night with eleven years ago, right before his life turned to crap. He spent a year fantasizing about her. Now he's ready to see how reality matches up.

Imogen Parker is a perfectionist. She's only strayed from the straight and narrow once in her life, on her eighteenth birthday. It was supposed to be one wild night with a totally unsuitable man before she settled into her sensible future. Instead it changed her life forever.

Logan might still be the sexiest man Imogen has ever seen, but a dirty-talking, tattooed, ex-con is the last thing she needs in her perfect life. He claims she's his fantasy girl, but what he doesn't know is she's also the mother of his ten-year old daughter...

So I know I have mentioned before how I have mixed feelings about the whole hidden child thing, but in some cases, where the child isn’t kept from the other parent because of vindictive reasons, I tend to like the storyline. So in this story, Logan meets a girl at the club owned by his father, her name is Abby, and its her 18th birthday, they spend an incredibly hot night together, and then go their separate ways. Now I’m not really a fan of women hiding kids from their fathers, but in this case, she’s a super young girl, and when she goes to find this guy who she had the hot one night stand with, well she’s told he is in jail, so it a pretty good reason since she doesn’t know anything about him other than that his new address is in the slammer.

So I do have to admit I really liked Abby as a character. She’s a single mom, but she works her bum off to provide a good life for her daughter. It’s clear how much she cares about her daughter and only wants the best for her. Also, she has worked hard for herself too, she’s a police officer, and she is working hard to move up the chain. I like a woman who has ambition and works hard to get where she wants to be. But really, the thing I respected the most about her is that when Logan shows up on her door out of the blue, she tells him about their child (yes it took a minute, I would have been shocked too) and she is totally prepared for him to be apart of their daughters life. I liked that about her, she tries hard to make sure her daughter feels included in her new family.

As for Logan… hmm… well I have mixed feelings about this guy. I have to say I was really impressed with how quickly he wanted to be involved with his daughter, and how good he was with her. He really wanted to make her apart of his life in a seriously meaningful way, and not just like the weekend guy. Now as for how he was with Abby, well I’m not really sure how I feel about it. So Abby is his fantasy girl, because she is the girl that he fantasized about when he was in jail for a year, and after a near death experience he searched her out. But in the beginning he really doesn’t treat her much like a person, more like a pleasure object and that’s about it. She keeps telling him they need to talk, and he keeps saying when we are done, and this happens like 2 or 3 time. And even after he finds out about his daughter, it seems like the only thing he is interested in with Abby is sex. And when he does come around to really wanting her, he’s also kind of insecure about himself, and a little bit judgement about every little thing that comes out of Abby’s mouth. But all in all, I he was okay, and I like the chemistry that they had together.

If you like unlikely pairings, or if you like books with secret kids, then this might be a book you want to check out. It had good pacing, and a lot of heat, and was a good solid read for me.
