Jackie Davenport will try anything once, especially in the bedroom. Anything except falling in love. She lives a carefree existence packed full of fun, but free from emotional entanglements and that’s just how she wants to keep it. When she meets the new police officer in town, she’s unable to deny the connection between them. His over confidence and bullish ways grate on her…still she can’t help but find herself falling into his bed AND falling for him.

Jamie McTavish is man enough to admit that he probably didn’t make the best first impression when he met the 911 Operator. That doesn’t mean there isn’t still sizzling sexual tension between them. He’s a man of action and he’s not content to sit on the sidelines until Jackie works out her issues. But trying to tame this tiger might be too big of a challenge for even him.

This is by no means my first Elisabeth Grace book, I’ve actually read quite a few of her books, and I have enjoyed all of them. So I was looking forward to this book, especially because I love me a hot cop. I will say upfront this is a novella (which as I am sure you are aware at this point aren’t my favorite thing in world), but it does make for a quick read, so if you like novellas well you’re in luck.

So I really liked Jackie. She certainly has some hang ups, I mean she doesn’t date cops, oh wait, she doesn’t date at all. She only does casual, and she is kind of a carefree girl just in general, she doesn’t even like to live in the same place for too long. After her father died, and her mother never moved on from the grief, Jackie just decided not to get investing in anything the way her mother had. I actually liked that about her, it made her evolution throughout the book more enjoyable to read, seeing how she felt with her feelings for Jamie.

As for Jamie, I have mixed feelings about him. Honestly I struggled with him at the beginning of the book, to me, he felt like a creeper. I mean I liked me an alpha guy, especially one with a dirty mouth, but the way he acted and the things he said, just made my skin crawl. Thankfully in Chapter 11, it was like her a personality makeover and he wasn’t a creep anymore. So let’s just say post Chapter 11, I liked Jamie. He showed himself to be a good son, he was patient with Jackie (as much as was reasonable) and he was invested in making things with her work. He had the whole hot cop thing working for me.

Since it is a short book, I don’t want to say too much because I don’t want to give too much away, but I will say that once I got past my initial hangs up about Jamie, I liked the book. It was a quick read for me, but it kept my attention and I really liked Jackie, she made the book for me. So if you are a fan of Elisabeth Grace or just like shorter romance book then you should consider giving this book a go!
