Gabriella Masini: She’s a woman haunted by her past, with the scars to prove it. She believes that fairy tales are for other people. An elite matchmaker at Alliance, she’s great at crunching numbers, but something doesn’t add up with her latest prospective client: a billionaire bad boy with his own secrets. When Gabi refuses to be his temporary wife, Hunter forces her hand with an offer she can’t refuse. But marriage to a man like that could never last…or could it?

Hunter Blackwell: Only his bank account is bigger than his ruthless ability to obtain anything he wants. These days, he has a secret reason to settle down, at least for a while—and he thinks the sensual and sassy Gabi will fit the bill perfectly. But when their marriage of convenience becomes downright dangerous, Hunter must decide how far to take his vow to honor and protect Gabi forever.

photo synopsisgraphic.pngI can honestly say this book was in no way what I was expecting it to be. I am coming in late to this series (I mean this is the last one in the series, and the first book I’ve read from it), and I can honestly say I wish I had found this series earlier. So when I read the synopsis for this book, I was intrigued, I mean I like the temporary wife/fake marriage storyline, add a little blackmail to it and I’m intrigued. So I went into this book thinking it was going to be a reluctant wife, a husband who need a wife only for convenience and they would slowly fall in love and get their happily ever after. I mean the cover just looks so innocent and sweet, I was expecting sugar, and instead I got suspense, danger, some funny one liners, passion, and characters who were not at all what they seemed to be. Can’t even begin to say how happy I am with the way this book turned out.

So I know I normally start with the heroine, but today I’m gonna start with our hero instead, Hunter. I will fully admit he comes off as very arrogant, and at the beginning of the book I thought to myself, “I’m gonna hate this dude,” I fully expected myself to come out on the other side of this book having enjoyed my read, but not loving it. There is so much more to Hunter then meets the eye. Yes he is a billionaire, and with that much money he sometimes almost treats it like in the abstract (like when he and Gabi are negotiating the contract), but I really thought he would be more the shrewd businessman type, unwilling to yield to anyone and just a jerk. Turns out, he listens to Gabi, cares about people other then himself, and while he is firm in his beliefs he is also able to step out of his comfort zone. By the end of the book I loved this guy, he’s the perfect guy for Gabi, and just way more then I was expecting.

So on to Gabi. She is more than a little bit reserved, she has a past that anyone would find hard to deal with, and so its understandable that she has some trust issues. But even with everything she is strong, and strong willed. At the very beginning of the book she was hard to read, just like it was hard for Hunter to read her, I found it hard to read her as well. But as she started to open up to Hunter and really to herself in some spots, I really found that I liked her. She’s clearly a kind and giving woman, and with her past I’m totally impressed at how open she was to letting people into her life and really treating them like family.

I loved the chemistry between Gabi and Hunter, and sometimes I thought they were just funny, like how Gabi ends most conversations with Hunter telling him to get hit by a bus and he tells her he will do his best. They are just cute. Yes, they both have secrets, but they just work. I was surprised by the amount of action/drama in the book, but it was fun to read and I think really added to the book. In the end I can without a doubt say that I loved this book and the ending was just what I wanted. I highly recommend this book to anyone who liked contemporary Romance books, and I know I am going to be looking into more books by the author in the future.
