Sky Lopez thought she had it all—the perfect job, the perfect relationship, the perfect life…until she discovers her not-so-perfect boyfriend has been cheating on her. So when her uncle asks her to help plan his Hamptons wedding, Sky jumps at the chance, leaving all of her “perfect” future plans in the rearview mirror.
The wedding doesn’t prove as good a distraction as she’d hoped, because when her relatives and friends find out she’s single, they put Sky in their match-making sights. Never mind that she’s only twenty four. Never mind that she doesn’t want to settle for anyone other than Mr. Right. Seemingly everyone in Sky’s life wants her to get married and have babies. Like, yesterday.
So when Hayden—a sweet, sexy roofer—plummets through the ceiling and practically falls into her lap, she can’t help but think that maybe nice guys do just fall from the sky.
Soon Sky finds herself juggling crumbling wedding plans, the cheating ex who’s trying to win her back, the cute plastic surgeon her family thinks is perfect for her, and the hot roofer she can’t seem to get off her mind.
As the wedding date draws closer, Sky will need to choose one—or none—to keep herself from falling off the ledge, and maybe into love.
Ah the destination wedding, complete with all kinds of family drama. Only with this book it wasn’t the heroine’s wedding, it was for her uncle and she is basically the wedding planner. Honestly I loved the setting of the book, and the circumstances that allowed for all those family members to be in the same place under the same roof.
So our heroine in this book is Sky, and I have to say I really enjoyed her as a character. Her family in a lot of ways reminds me of mine, only hers is much bigger and in this case are all in the same place. So Sky is helping to plan her uncles wedding after finding out her long term boyfriend was cheating on her. I think part of the reason why I liked her so much is because she left him and decided to start her life over, she knew she wasn’t happy and that she wanted more from her life, she was just using her time at her uncle’s to figure out where she was going to go from there.
Hayden is a roofer who is working at her Uncle’s house, when he literally falls from the sky into her room. I liked him, he was just a good guy in general. There is more than one instance when one person is mistreating another and Hayden always is ready to step in. He’s there for Sky when she needs him no questions asked, and goes out of his way to do good things for her family, even when not everyone is overly fond of him. It’s easy to see why Sky would want to be with him.
There are a lot of other characters in this book. Sky’s mother drove me bananas, she has it in her head that her daughter should marry for money or go back to her ex who cheated on her. She even tries to set her up over and over again with this total jerk Xandro, even though Sky made it unbelievable clear she is completely uninterested. Sky also has a cousin, Maria, who is clearly holding a serious grudge against her, I would have liked to have had a confrontation between Sky and her, but she definitely provided some tension to situations.
Sky has a group of two girls who are her bests friends and family, and I loved seeing them together. One of them is going through such a hard time and it’s so great how they really rally to make sure that she is okay and help her with whatever she needs. I really hope that we get to see these three girls together again. All in all I really enjoyed this book, it was fun romance, with some great chemistry and even better family dynamics.
