I was about to marry the man of my dreams. We had it all; a life that most could only wish for. I felt like the luckiest woman in the world.
Then, in the blink of an eye, it was taken from me.
Now I can’t grasp how to move forward. I don’t even think I want to. Whether I’m dead or alive, my happily ever after is NEVER going to happen.
I should have prepared myself, especially when I read the title of this book. I mean the title isn’t exactly screaming happy times and fairy tales right? I should have guessed going in it was going to be one of those books that pulled on my heartstrings.
So the book starts and Bailey and Major meet each other in a chance encounter after Bailey had a date with some guy she met online who was seriously a jerk. It’s clear right from the beginning that Bailey and Major are suppose to be together. They are so cute together, you can tell how much they love each other and how they are just good people in general. So the two of them head off to Italy for their destination wedding, and the only thing bothering Bailey is Major’s best friend Vincent who lets face it is kind of a jerk. And this is where I leave you in terms of the synopsis of the book, because anything further than the wedding would really ruin the surprise of it all.
So Bailey is an interesting character. I liked that she is really smart, and that she is just a good person. I loved following her throughout the journey of this book. And there were so many moment in the book where I couldn’t help but tearing up. I mean I she goes through so much, and I was seriously not prepared for it. But her character’s evolution is just so good to read.
Major is another great character in the book, he is easily what I think everyone would dream of in a guy. He has this great family, and he is this totally sweet guy, he’s good to his family, he’s good to his friends, and he is good to Bailey. I loved getting to know his family over the course of this book. Major isn’t the only one who has good people in his life though, Bailey has a really good friend in Shawna and she is there for Bailey every step of the way. She always has an encouraging word, she knows when to push her friend, and when to just be there, you have to love that in a best friend.
I would not recommend this book to anyone who is not prepared to go on an emotional journey with the characters, because without a doubt you do in this book. I teared up several times. But if you like a book that will take you on an emotional rollercoaster then this is your book.
