It's been said the longest echo ever measured lasted 75 seconds, but I can assure you, this will last much longer. The bang deafened the world around me, muting everything into nullity, allowing the reflection of its destruction to live far beyond its intended life.
It will follow me forever, destroying me—destroying you.
You want answers?
So do I.
So E.K. Blair has one of those minds, I mean she just draws you in with her insane stories and just when you think you have a handle on everything and you are emotionally stable again, she just drops the floor out from under you. It part of why I enjoy her writing so much, apparently I liked to be completely shock and sometimes even traumatized by this woman.
I honestly wasn’t sure what I was getting into when I walked into this series, I mean I have read a couple of dark romance books and sure I’ve been shocked while reading them, but I honestly think there are moments where Blair takes it to a new level. So stop reading this review now unless you want some spoilers from the first book, Bang. I was honestly not sure where this sequel was going to go, I mean Blair basically burnt everything down to the ground at the end of Bang, and I couldn’t help but think that there was literally no way for Blair to write a sequel with these characters. Of course I was wrong. Which I am uber happy about.
So when the book starts we are back with Elizabeth and she is dealing with the aftermath of book one, and can I just say that I am glad that Blair spent the time she did really laying this out for the reader. I think it was really good to really experience everything with her, and I couldn’t help feel bad for her, and completely understood how her feelings of devastation were effecting her day to day life. There were moments when I thought she would have stronger reactions to the things going on around her, but then I realized she is completely numb to just about everything at this point.
There is so much I want to say about this book, but I don’t want to ruin it for anyone, so I am trying to figure out how much I can say without giving too much away, and it’s so hard! What I will say is that it is clear from this book that Declan was without a doubt the person Elizabeth loved more than anything, so much so that in this book she goes to Declan’s homeland to just feel like she is near to him. It’s all so sad and heartbreaking.
There is just as much going on in this book, and there is a lot of stuff that happens to Elizabeth in this book, I really thought that there was no way that Elizabeth could have it worse than she did in Bang, but she man on man, she comes close to it in this book, I mean man! While I don’t think I liked this book quite as much as Bang (I think it’s because walking into Bang I was completely blind, but in Echo I have a past with the characters), this book was a great sequel to Bang, and I highly recommend it, especially if you have read Bang or you like dark romance.
