At twenty-two years old, Sydney is enjoying a great life: She’s in college, working a steady job, in love with her wonderful boyfriend, Hunter, and rooming with her best friend, Tori. But everything changes when she discovers that Hunter is cheating on her—and she’s forced to decide what her next move should be.
Soon, Sydney finds herself captivated by her mysterious and attractive neighbor, Ridge. She can't take her eyes off him or stop listening to the passionate way he plays his guitar every evening out on his balcony. And there’s something about Sydney that Ridge can’t ignore, either. They soon find themselves needing each other in more ways than one.
A passionate tale of friendship, betrayal, and romance, Maybe Someday will immerse readers in Sydney’s tumultuous world from the very first page.
This book speaks to my soul. Like seriously. I can remember where exactly I read this book at, that’s how much I loved it. I started reading this book right before going to the ballet, and I was sneaking pages during the ballet and at intermission. I love Hoover’s writing style, I adore her characters, and this whole book just pulled me in and didn’t want to let go from beginning to end.
So Ridge as the hero of this story is just amazing. He is different than I expected him to be, but in such a good way. I can honestly say I have not read a character like Ridge before, and so much about his is so interesting. I loved watching the way he interacts with the people around him and even more than that I loved watching how he interacts with Sydney. He’s a musician, and his song writing process is just so cool (you seriously need to read it to understand).
Sydney is just as awesome as a character. She is such a nice person, and she is going through a seriously rough time. She finds out her boyfriend and her best friend doing the nasty together and ended up out of her apartment and looking for a place to land on her feet. Enter Ridge. The two of them bond so quickly together, they just kind of mesh together. Watching their friendship grow was really great for me.
So stop reading here if you don’t want some spoilerish information. There is a hiccup in the whole Ridge and Sydney thing. As a reader, I really liked them and wanted them to be together. Except Ridge has a girlfriend. A serious girlfriend. One who he loves very much. This is not a book about cheating. This is not a book about someone trying to come in between a relationship. Ridge and Sydney are good people, who do everything they can to make the right choices while not losing each other as friends.
This book can seriously be heartbreaking at times. It drags you along, and you have no choice but to keep going. I read a lot of books, and it takes a lot for me to get seriously invested in characters, but this book did it so effortlessly. I was so invested in the characters I found myself laughing and crying along with them. The cast of characters was great, I loved the roommates that Sydney and Ridge lived with, and the pranks that they play were just awesome, and provided from some nice distractions when things got a little heavier.
Without a doubt I would recommend this book to anyone. I myself am looking forward to reading more of Colleen Hoover’s work, if any of her work is even half as awesome as this book is then I am sure without a doubt that I am going to like it. You should read this book ASAP.
