This sexy, emotionally charged romance continues the story of Damien Stark, the powerful multimillionaire who’s never had to take “no” for an answer, and Nikki Fairchild, the Southern belle who only says “yes” on her own terms.

Our desire runs deep. But our secrets cut close. Beautiful, strong, and commanding, Damien Stark fills a void in me that no other man can touch. His fierce cravings push me beyond the brink of bliss—and unleash a wild passion that utterly consumes us both.

Yet beneath his need for dominance, he carries the wounds of a painful past. Haunted by a legacy of dark secrets and broken trust, he seeks release in our shared ecstasy, the  heat between us burning stronger each day.

Our attraction is undeniable, our obsession inevitable. Yet not even Damien can run from his ghosts, or shield us from the dangers yet to come.

I have reviewed the first two books in this series previously, and since this is book three I want to say up front that if you read any further this review will most likely contain spoilers for the first two books so either read at your own peril or read the first two books in this series first (you should, they are pretty good).

So first things first the tone of this book is a bit more on the sad, heartbreaking side of things. Things just are not going right for Damien and Nikki, especially for Damien. Damien is facing some serious charges, and it definitely puts both Damien and Nikki through the ringer. This trial really puts Damien through a lot, including having to deal with keeping his secret past secret, something that seems like it is going to be hard to do, and dealing with the reality of his situation is of course not easy and stressful on him. I don’t think he handles it all that well, and it does create a lot of stress on the couple. The whole thing just makes the tone of the book very desperate and heartbreaking. As a reader you want things to turn out okay in the end for them, but in the meantime the book takes you on a series ride of uncertainty.

While Damien is in bad shape during this book, you have to admit that Nikki has gone through a lot of growth in the past couple of books and this one she is much more of a force. She’s able to keep strong with everything that is going on. Sure she has moments of weakness, but overall she has turned into a much stronger woman. In previous books it seemed more like Damien was the source of strength for Nikki, but in this book things are a little bit flipped around. And as with the other books, the chemistry between them is super hot, so if you are hoping for more hot and steamy, then this book will once again serve you well.

I would say if you have read the first two books then this book is without a doubt a must read. I didn’t 100% love the ending, but it was likable enough for me. I think anyone who enjoys these billionaire hero/bdsm trilogies will enjoy this one, so you should check it out.
