Alyssa Miller is tired of waiting for her next-door neighbor to see her as more than just his best friend. Ready to let off some steam, she heads to Las Vegas for a romance book convention where, if she's lucky, she’ll get down and dirty with one of the sexy cover models.
Dillon Alexander doesn’t do commitment—especially not where his best friend is concerned. She deserves a man who can give her the world, not damaged goods. But when he realizes Alyssa intends to have a one-night stand on her vacation, he hauls ass after her to make sure he’s the one to scratch her itch.
Neither of them expects their explosive chemistry to burn hotter than the lights on the strip, but with a little help from Elvis, Marilyn Monroe, a flamboyant matchmaker, and TSA, what happens in Vegas might not stayin Vegas…
I love best friend romances! I mean come on, who wouldn’t want to fall in love with their best friend, at least they know all your good and bad traits and they still love you anyway. This one was pretty cute, mainly because most of it takes place at a romance book convention in Las Vegas (as someone who wants more than anything to go to book convention, this was a cool thing for me to read about).
So Alyssa and Dillon are not just best friends but they are also next door neighbors. More than that it seems like the two of them both have a thing for each other that they have never told one another because they are both harboring some seriously reservations about relationships due to some past history with their respective families. As far as Alyssa knows Dillion has a steady stream of short term hook ups but has no desire for anything else, and she doesn’t think he even sees her as an option. But as soon as she tells him of her plan for a Vegas hook up he springs into action and follows her there and offers up his services.
I have to admit that their whole dynamic is kind of great, their chemistry is awesome. The sex scenes are also just as great, there’s a great one in the hotel room that gets a little crazy. But there is this guy, this gay guy at the hotel who is in charge or organizing events who makes things so amusing. He talks to Alyssa about things when she has her doubts, he asks the simplest questions that somehow manage to make Alyssa realize what she actually wants. But he is hilarious the whole time. And at the end at the airport, he is epic, hilarious, and so romantic (you have to read it to understand).
If you are looking for a quick romance (it’s novella length), that makes you laugh while at the same time pulling at your heart strings then this book is definitely one you should check out. It’s a great, fun read that I loved from beginning to end.
