Kyler Morgan, Master at the legendary Club Sin in Las Vegas, knows how to give women what they want—too well. He hasn’t had a real challenge in a long time. Then Ella Snow enters his life. Beautiful, inhibited, and innocent in the ways of submission and domination, Ella is the new blood he’s been lusting after. Soon, the thrill of training her to embrace his world brings forth desires Kyler cannot control.
After ending an abusive relationship, Ella makes a promise to herself to start living life to the fullest. It’s one of the reasons she seeks out Club Sin. Here, Kyler’s every touch is a lesson in liberation, stirring passions that have no bounds. But as she falls under Kyler’s command, Ella discovers that some secrets are so dark they must come to light. Submission alone may not be enough to save her, leaving her Master with only one question: How can he help Ella heal while unlocking the deep pleasures she craves?
I have mentioned it before, I am always a little wary of picking up erotica books by authors I don’t know, especially of the BDSM persuasion, mostly because I don’t like books that are one hundred percent sex and no story. What can I say I am a girl who needs substance, even in my erotica. But I have heard good things about Stacey Kennedy, and I really enjoyed my last erotica book I took a chance on (thanks Jeffe Kennedy), so I went for it.
I honestly think if you are looking to try out a BDSM book then I think this would be a good one to start with. It’s not super over the top, and because the girl in the story starts out with no knowledge of the lifestyle, you get to learn along side of her. Also, while this book is in the middle of a series, you don’t need to have read the other ones to enjoy this one, this one stands on its own.
So Ella basically is starting over in Las Vegas, having left her abusive husband behind in Savannah, and is completely determined to live her life differently, saying yes to things she would have never said yes to before. So when she attends the wedding of her boss and this super hot cop approaches her, she finds herself saying yes to everything he wants. I liked Ella for the most part, I liked that she left her abusive husband the first time he physically hurt her, I liked that she was willing to take chances on things. I liked that she was easy to get along with, people just found it easy to be friends with her because she was just a nice person in general. I do have some grumbles about her though, she’s a bit on the demanding side about certain things. Like she is completely adamant that Kyler treat her like she was never abused, and it was just completely unreasonable, and then she even says things like well if you can’t ignore the abuse then we can’t work. It just was too extreme of a reaction, I mean I get the embarrassment and not wanting to dwell on it, but at the same time, its not like he was pulling away from her or something, he just wanted to ease into some of the harder BDSM things slowly, totally reasonable.
Kyler (interesting name), was a good male character for me. I liked that the author explained his views on dominance so fully, I mean it wasn’t really about control a woman completely, I mean yes there is a control element there, but at the same time it’s more about bringing happiness to the woman he is with. I liked that he knew he wanted a relationship, even though Ella wasn’t ready for that yet, and that he didn’t push it. I liked that he was so protective of Ella. But more than that I liked how understanding he was. He never had any judgement for Ella, never questioned her actions, only wanted to understand why she did things, he genuinely wanted to get to know her, no judgements, and what girl wouldn’t want that?
This book is definitely sex heavy, so if you aren’t looking for that then I would pass on this book. But if you are looking for a BDSM book with a love story, then this book might be for you, and like I said before I think it would be a good way to investigate the BDSM theme with this book because it’s really not over the top at all. It’s a solid read and I definitely enjoyed it.
