Waking up in Vegas was never meant to be like this.

Evelyn Thomas’s plans for celebrating her twenty-first birthday in Las Vegas were big. Huge. But she sure as hell never meant to wake up on the bathroom floor with a hangover to rival the black plague, a very attractive half-naked tattooed man, and a diamond on her finger large enough to scare King Kong. Now if she could just remember how it all happened.

One thing is for certain, being married to rock and roll’s favourite son is sure to be a wild ride.

I am totally a sucker for a good musician book, especially of the rock persuasion, maybe because I spent my youth being obsessed with rock and the rockers to played my favorite songs. Either way, I love these kinds of books when they are done right, and without a doubt this book was done right, and I honestly can’t wait to get my hands on the next book in the series.

So Ev wakes up in Vegas with the hangover from hell, no memories from the night before, a giant ring on her finger, a tattoo on her bum, and a hot tattooed man in the bathroom with her. To say she was shocked might be an understatement. Although when said hot guy realized she doesn’t remember anything about him or the night before, he takes off promising to send her divorce papers. Of course when Ev’s flight lands back home the paparazzi are camped out and she’s basically under siege, turns out she married a rock star.

I was honestly really surprised at how easily Ev took this new turn of events. When David (her husband) sends for her to come in LA to deal with this new turn of events, she agrees and just goes along with it. On some level this is giving Ev an escape from her perfectly planned out life that her heart just isn’t into. Her husband doesn’t seem to be that interested in her, and when the lawyers start offering her money along with a side of threats, she reaches her limit. I was really glad that she kind of broke at this point, that she let the anger boil up and acted out, it was at this point that I knew I liked her. As the story goes on, Ev definitely holds her own, she doesn’t take crap from people, and there comes a time when she has to put her foot down and protect herself (props to her for being able to put herself first instead of getting swept away).

David is one sexy dude. I liked him. He’s flawed. Like big time. He’s got demons in his past, everything from family issues to an ex who seriously broke him. I was a little surprised at how from the very beginning he was so on board with being married, but at the same time being with someone who was authentic and didn’t really care about who he was or his money, well I get the appeal. David does without a doubt make a lot of mistakes over the course of the book, and I did want to shake him a couple of time. But in his defense, he can recognize when he is wrong, and is steadfast in his getting what he wants, which I liked about him.

I liked the secondary characters (the guys in the band), you really only got to know the drummer and lead singer in this book, but it’s definitely a good set up for future books. I also really liked Ev’s brother, but her roommate/best friend Lauren, I only liked a little bit. I thought Lauren kind of got in the way of Ev and David in a couple of instances by throwing information about David to Ev without letting the two of them actually get to know each other organically, it definitely causes some issues.

I totally enjoyed reading this book. I loved the waking up married theme, and I love watching the two of them get to know each other. They had good chemistry together, and I liked that. I thought that the pacing was really good, and the book was more that just two people getting together, both David and Ev grew as people in order to make their relationship work and it just made the romance all the better. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes new adult books, especially those with hot rocker dudes in them.
